Fresh-cut vegetable brand sold in Alabama stores recalled due to listeria risk

Texas-based Country Fresh LLL is recalling 30,000 cases of fresh-cut vegetables sold to retailers in the southeast, including Alabama because they could be contaminated with listeria.
The products, which are sold under the Country Fresh and store brand names, bears the "Best if Used By" dates between Aug. 7, 2016 and Aug. 19, 2016, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The vegetables are in either a clear plastic container or in Styrofoam trays overwrapped with clear plastic film.

"We are treating this incident very seriously because we want to ensure that our customers are provided with only the safest, most wholesome, and high-quality products available," said Max Payen, Country Fresh's director of food safety.
The potential contamination was found during a single routine sample taken at a retail store by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. This sample tested positive for the listeria bacteria.
