Vet who killed cat with arrow should have license suspended, judges say
Source: Dallas Morning News
The Brenham veterinarian who fatally shot a cat in the head with an arrow could have her license suspended for five years.
The two administrative law judges recommended last week that the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners suspend Kristen Lindsey's license for five years and that she be allowed to practice on probationary basis after a year of full suspension, according to court documents.
The recommendation also included continuing education courses and community service hours at a feline rescue or spay/neuter clinic, or similar facility, the documents state.
Lindsey has appealed the ruling, KAGS-TV reported.

(49,212 posts)I'm also not sure why it matters. It's 2016. People google everything. What kind of idiot would let her near their animals when googling her turns up pictures of her bowhunting for family pets?
If there's one thing the internet is well known for not forgetting, it's mistreating animals. She's effectively unemployable in her field, license or no.

(18,869 posts)They were completely outraged by her horrible behavior. She won't ever be employable in that field whether she has a license or not.
She wouldn't even be able to just set up her own business. She can't work alone. She would have to do business with other vets and they wouldn't let that happen.
She might be able to find work in some related field like drug research.
She claimed the cat was a feral male cat. Then it turned out it was the family pet of her elderly neighbors. Then later she claimed she killed it because she was trying to protect her own animals from diseases it might be carrying.
Sociopaths change their stories like that. They keep trying to find one that someone will believe.

(16,829 posts)and he said 'not any more'. He grew up in Wisconsin where a lot of people hunt. He said that as soon as he started practicing veterinary medicine he could no longer make sense of it. "If you make your living putting hurt animals back together, it makes no sense to deliberately inflict harm on other animals."

(20,219 posts)Just the fact that she's appealing as if this is slap on the wrist is too harsh, is so typical for psychopaths & narcissistic personality disorder. Speaks to lack of remorse, lack of empathy, demand for special treatment, etc etc.
She's got no intention of changing. Needs to lose license permanently.

(28,268 posts)She ought to be overjoyed by such a lenient finding. Anybody who inflicts such wanton cruelty on an animal should lose all rights to be an animal doctor.

(3,212 posts)She lives very near Texas A&M, which has one of the finest vet schools in the country. I wonder if she went to school there.
Even with all the hunters around here, I don't know anyone who thinks it's ok to shoot a cat with a bow and arrow...or any other weapon.
Her license should be revoked forever.

Her judgment is horrendous. She has no business practicing veterinary medicine.

(1,990 posts)She got her vet degree from Colorado State. My wife is a veterinarian and she graduated from Texas A&M. We were both relieved that she didn't go to school there. Her license should be revoked period.

(3,212 posts)No one in our family has gone to Texas A&M, but I'm very proud to say we have such a great vet school in Texas. We don't need yahoos like that giving us a bad name. We already have enough stuff to live down.

(5,611 posts)such a "vet" working w/a beloved family pet or a helpless rescue animal? This plus her DUI arrest makes me think she is very likely a sociopath, and she will very likely commit another act of violence in the future. I hope the unsuspecting public is kept as informed as possible about her history.

(15,223 posts)I can tell you that she won't ever have any of MY business. I do cat rescue in Texas and our rescue spends quite a bit of money with several vets in the area. Were one of them to hire this woman, we would immediately move our business elsewhere.
I think most animal lovers that I know and interact with in Texas feel exactly the same way.
Kristen Lindsey was also recently arrested for a DUI in Houston.

(5,611 posts)I can't believe that ANYONE would trust this scum w/their animals. She is displaying a gross contempt for life -- animals and human as indicated by her DUI arrest -- and she is dangerous. I think we can predict that this will not end well, as she will kill another human being or some other person's poor animal at some point.

(15,223 posts)I'd also bet she is an entitled little rich girl who gives no thought to consequences of her actions because her mommy and daddy have always fixed everything for her.
Well they aren't going to fix this for her.

(112,323 posts)Her parents own a big ranch in Colorado and the primary reason she went to vet school was so that she could take care of the horses and other animals on the ranch. However, if she doesn't have a vet license then she won't be able to write any prescriptions for those animals.

(20,219 posts)So for an animal torturer, the veterinary field would be ideal.
Working at a butcher's or meat slaughter house wouldn't give someone like her the thrill she wants, I would bet. It's the violence to the animal, the suffering she causes the family, and specifically the criminality that excites her. Psychopaths loooove to file suits and appeals, looking to get away with their sick games.
Ugh...
