Trump Rails Against Media For Blowing Up His 'Rigged' Election Remark
Source: Talking Points Memo
During a Wednesday campaign stop in Abingdon, Virginia, Donald Trump bemoaned the loss of neighboring North Carolina's discriminatory voter ID law and blamed the media for hammering him for suggesting the election would be "rigged."
Trump called the recent appeals court ruling that North Carolina's voter ID law was intended to discriminate against African-American voters "a tremendous loss" to the state.
"You know, I've been talking about the rigged system for a long time, and I get hammered in the press for talking about, 'Oh, I can't believe he'd be talking about the rigged system,'" the GOP nominee said. "Then in the meantime, voter ID, you don't have to do. And I'm sure none of those folks would be voting ten times during one day, right?"
When the New York businessman escalated his often repeated "rigged system" talking point to suggest the general election would be "rigged" at an Aug. 1 event, the remarks were viewed as Trump's first efforts to lay the groundwork to rationalize a loss in November.

(426 posts)I'm 100% sure none of "those folks" who the law was designed to prevent from voting once are going to vote ten times during one election, but he sure has a way of implying the opposite of the words that come out of his mouth.
