Top Colombia TV network compromised over paramilitary support claims

The integrity of Colombia’s second largest of two TV networks is at stake amid ongoing accusations of ties to paramilitary groups and alleged bias in reporting on ongoing peace talks.
The network most critical about ongoing peace talks with the far-left FARC is accused of falsely portraying the leader of far-right paramilitary group AUC as “the leader of the fight against subversion” while sister company Postobon is accused of delivering free beverages to paramilitary fighters.
The accusations implicate evening news director Claudia Gurisatti, one of the most senior and iconic faces of the network and Colombian TV in general.
The network news program reaches millions of Colombians each day and Gurisatti’s news program influences the public opinion immensely.
