Stockton mayor arrested; charges include crimes against children

SILVER LAKE — Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva was arrested this morning at his Mayor’s Youth Camp by agents from the FBI, San Joaquin County District Attorney's office and Stockton Police Department.

Silva, 42, was removed from the camp he was running for underprivileged youth at 9:30 this morning. The weeklong camp is an annual summer camp he manages for 100 underprivileged children and teens at the city-leased Silver Lake Camp.

Among the charges is a felony of eavesdropping or recording confidential communications, and misdemeanor charges of cruelty to a child by endangering his or her health, providing alcohol to a minor, and contributing to the delinquency to a minor.

The arrest comes after a months-long investigation.
