Trump: My policies could have prevented 9/11

Source: The Hill

Donald Trump argued Wednesday that his immigration policies could have prevented the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks by keeping the hijackers from entering America in the first place.

The GOP presidential nominee brought up the issue at a rally in Daytona Beach, Fla., while rehashing a series of controversies that plagued his primary bid, specifically when he said Muslims were "dancing on the streets and the rooftops" in New Jersey celebrating the attack on the World Trade Center.

"By the way, those people who knocked down the World Trade Center, most likely under the Trump policy wouldn't have been here to knock down the World Trade Center," he said.

and media do a revisionist job on the Bush years: The flags, the whole patriotic hubris, the "he kept America safe" narrative unchallenged etc. etc.

They would have limited excess to Jeb, only allowing fox news or friendly softball catie couric interviews while allowing their media to tear Hillary apart. At one point the narrative was Jeb was the "smart Bush." Trump destroyed that narrative..for the time being at least.

He probably also kept another one from happening by almost single-handedly derailing Jeb(!) and his 100 million-dollar "shock-and-awe" turkey of a campaign.

As awful as Trump is, he does deserve a kind word from the history books for keeping the Bush crime family away from the White House. No small accomplishment.

I think if Trump were elected, there would be some sort of 911 type false flag attack, or a civil war, or a war with another country, only waged on our soil. With Trump, any worst case scenario that you can imagine, could become a reality.

...I mean, I'm sure if we all take a carefully look at the facts we could disprove it, but you'd have to go back in time and keep things exactly as they were (airplanes without doors locking in pilots, etc.), create his Muslim ban, put it into effect and see if 9-11 would have been prevented to really prove him a liar.

Still, for such a loose cannon, his methodology is remarkably consistent. "I can fix it" is always the theme, and he never lets the faithful down in asserting that. In this case, he (1) implies that another 9-11 could happen and only his ban will save us (as it could have back then), and (2) that President Bill Clinton didn't have such a ban in place, and thus, the terrorists got in and were ready, and, thus, voters shouldn't make Hillary president, because it'll happen again. She won't put in place that all important ban that is the only way to prevent such a thing. Only he will.

We can scoff here all we like, but let's keep in mind that we're not his target audience. We should find way to easily disprove this (as much as it can be disproven) to those who are his target audience. The "maybe I'll vote for Trump..." voters who aren't locked into place, but are leaning that way.

better to have availed ourselves of the intelligence we had, and used better police tactics, to thwart terrorist attacks. Then, at least, we'd be defending a country and a set of policies we would be proud to defend.

and he was insulting, lying and stupid in 2001, so why didn't he prevent 9/11? Yeah, Trump is more insulting, lying and stupid than George W. Bush, but how would that stop 9/11? Even Rudy Giuliani, who was in New York at the time, while being insulting, lying and stupid couldn't stop 9/11. Is Trump so much more insulting, stupid and lying that it would shock and awe even terrorists?

I know we aren't supposed to compare anyone to a certain German dictator in WWII, but this is almost like seeing it happen again, in real time. For those of us who always said, "How could that have happened in Germany," well, we have a similar thing here.

Ask them HOW they will actually make America great again, and they cannot say other than he is going to make jobs, make America stand up to the world, build a wall and make America safe again. Ask them HOW, and they cannot answer.
