Victorious groups, including Planned Parenthood, seek $1.8M from state in abortion ruling

Groups that mounted a successful court challenge to a Wisconsin law restricting abortions are seeking nearly $1.8 million in compensation from the state.

If a judge grants the request, it would put Wisconsin taxpayers on the hook to compensate parties to the lawsuit, which include Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the American Civil Liberties Union, for legal costs.

A court filing from last week in the case requests the sum for "attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses."

The groups challenged a 2013 state law requiring abortion doctors to have admitting privileges to hospitals within 30 miles of the clinic at which they work. The law was passed by Republican legislators and signed by Gov. Scott. Walker...........

WI has had a slew of court cases against Walker that ultimately cost taxpayers to pay up.
Good cause but so unnecessary. I wish there was a law that when a case is ruled unconstitutional like the abortion case above--it would come out of the individual Republicans and Walkers wallet!!

they better put it on the state and thus taxpayers. Then there can be a critical mass of citizens who are fed up with Walker's shenanigans. It won't ever come out their individual pockets, but having it become a campaign issue will have to do.

to the courts. We, here in WI have a lot of Red folks. Yet, my feeling is that many are getting fed up with Walkers shenanigans also.
