Donald Trump Rescued From Stalled Elevator in Colorado City

By the associated press

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Jul 30, 2016, 10:53 PM ET

The Colorado Springs Fire Department says that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump had to be rescued from an elevator that was stuck between the first and second floors of a resort.

In a statement released Saturday, the department says that it was called at 1:30 p.m. Friday to rescue about 10 people, including Trump, trapped inside the elevator at The Mining Exchange, A Wyndham Grand Hotel & Spa resort.

The department says the firefighters opened the top elevator hatch and lowered a ladder into the elevator. Trump and the others used the ladder to climb out of the elevator to the second floor. The department says no injuries were reported.

Trump's security team was given control of the hotel's elevators during the event, said Perry Sanders Jr., an attorney who co-owns the hotel.

Good god. Can you imagine being trapped in an elevator with him? The hair spray fumes, the creepy little hands, the Cheeto dust...the humanity!

From CBS News:

"I will note I don't think that Mr. Trump interestingly enough did anything out of the ordinary other than potentially lash out at the fire department which seemed a little peculiar but he did not come out of that in any sort of bad spirits as best I can tell," Sanders said.

"After the occupants were rescued, technicians for the company that services the elevator determined that the machine became stuck because someone turned the manual key while the car was in motion, Sanders said.

The problem was fixed and the 4-year-old elevator was immediately put back in service, he added.

The Trump campaign confirmed that the incident occurred but offered no further details."

Somebody in the security team disabled the elevator themselves.

I worked in a very old resort hotel that had three different brands of elevators. Each had a way of remotely raising or lowering the car. At least once a week one of these would stop between floors. It was only a matter of raising the car to unlock the brake and then moving it to floor level. A key was used in some cases to open the doors if they were inoperable. Never had to call for firemen or lift passengers out the ceiling with a ladder. Elevators usually stop unexpectedly if overloaded or kids jumping up and down in them. One of us electricians took care of this within minutes if we were on duty, but the night managers could do it in most cases. I think someone wanted Drumpf to squirm a little.
