Trump: There's Been 'Very, Very Little Pressure' To Release My Tax Returns
Source: Talking Points Memo
Donald Trump on Thursday night again indicated that he has no plans to release his tax returns, saying that he won't be motivated to release them even if Hillary Clinton releases the transcripts of the speeches she gave at Wall Street banks.
During an interview on Fox News, Greta Van Susteren asked Trump if he would release his tax returns from years no longer under audit if Clinton releases her speech transcripts. "I don't think the transcripts they don't mean very much to me. What really means something are the 33,000 emails that she deleted, that's what I think she should be giving up," Trump replied.
Van Susteren pressed Trump, asking why he is unwilling to release tax returns that are no longer under audit, even if he still refuses to publicize his most recent documents. "Most people don't care about it," Trump responded. "Ive had very, very little pressure."
The Republican nominee argued that when Romney released his tax returns, the documents weren't very revealing.

Either they aren't revealing so no problem releasing them, or ...
... or they are very revealing and we know Trump is hiding something or lots of things.
Could be one of or all of:
* Loans from Russian oligarchs
* Net worth a lot less than he wants us to believe
* Charity donation scams / low donations
* Offshore accounts / offshore manufacturing
* Paid ridiculously low taxes
He wants to have his cake and eat it too.

(11,522 posts)If Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton were being audited by the IRS they'd be portrayed as tax dodging crooks and it would be on the news 24/7.
On second thought maybe nobody's paying attention to tRump on this because the world already knows he's a tax dodging crook.

(45,523 posts)Dude is definitely hiding something. Like the fact that he's much less wealthy than he claims. He just wasn't as successful in business as he'd like us to believe.
He needs to hear that and let it bother him.

(5,624 posts)numerous mentions of the years he paid no taxes...so there are some years out there somewhere...can we set up a website with either the taxes or links to the taxes......and then spam the crap out of it to get some tax return visibility?
I FOUND THIS INFO JUST NOW:
In a video shown during the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, former Obama cabinet member Austan Goolsbee claimed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump paid no taxes or "basically" no taxes in five different calendar years.
Plain Dealer fact check: True
Goolsbee, an economist who served as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under President Obama, ridiculed Trump for his refusal thus far to release his federal tax returns, as has been customary for presidential nominees in the major parties for decades.
Goolsbee suggested Trump may be squelching the tax returns because he may not want people to know how little Trump pays in taxes, or because he may have questionable tax write-offs, or because he may not make as much as has been claimed.
Trump has fueled speculation over the months when asked about how much he pays in taxes.
"It's none of your business," Trump told ABC recently when asked about his tax rate. "You'll see it when I release, but I fight very hard to pay as little tax as possible."
Goolsbee said Trump paid no taxes in 1978, 1979, 1984 and basically no taxes in 1991 and 1993. It's not necessarily illegal to pay no taxes.
According to multiple media outlets that obtained reports filed by Trump, he didn't pay federal taxes for two out of five years covered by a 1981 report Trump submitted to New Jersey gambling regulators as part of his application for a casino license for a proposed hotel-casino. Page 33 contains the information Trump's income and taxes for 1975 through 1979. It says he paid no taxes in 1978 and 1979 because he lost money those years.
In 1975, 1976, and 1977, Trump claimed $76,210, $24,594, and $118,530 in income, respectively, paying $18,714, $10,832, and $42,386 in federal taxes, according to the document.
In 1984, he also didn't pay any taxes, according to the Daily Beast, which reported on two tax appeals Trump filed in the 1990s. (He lost both cases.)
Likewise, Trump paid zero or near zero in 1991 and 1993, also because of losses disclosed in records submitted to New Jersey gambling regulators and reviewed by Politico.
