GOP unity? Trump takes aim against Kasich, Cruz

Source: USA Today

Donald Trump is not backing down from a number of contested convention-week statements, including pledges to change NATO, a border ban that would affect Muslims and a number of countries, the tone of his acceptance speech, his refusal to release his tax returns, and threats to fund opponents for Republicans who oppose him.

The Republican presidential nominee said he would "probably" create a political action committee to fund opponents of Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, and one other person he wouldn't name during an interview broadcast Sunday on NBC's Meet The Press.

"Yes, I will probably do that at the appropriate at time," Trump said, though that is not his "number one" priority.

Speaking just after the GOP convention and just before the Democratic convention that will nominate Clinton to be his opponent, Trump reaffirmed many of his most contested statements during his party's get-together in Cleveland.

What is amazing this Sunday is that Trump doubled down on his prior proposals. For example, he says that his ban on Muslims is actually "expanded" because he is now talking whole territories.

Cruz is an odious human being. Even the other crazies in the Repug party can't stand him. The Bushes hate him, Trump hates him, Rubio loathes him, Kasich called him a bastard, etc.

It truly takes skill to be hated by that many people who agree with many of your disgusting viewpoints. How does that even happen???

Trump isn't interested in unity. As someone said, Trump sees the entire population of the world as either enemies or property. ref. Chris Christie.

Obviously not a winning political strategy. Politics is inclusive, not exclusive.

But what could Trump do or say to connect vision to sight, listening to hearing, content to intent, in his supporters and lose them as Greg Stillson does in The Dead Zone by Stephen King? I'm afraid that in these times, even holding a child as a shield wouldn't be enough.

On NBC, however, Trump didn’t directly say whether he would implement an immigration ban on all Muslims, though he did imply that the First Amendment’s protection of religious liberty wouldn’t necessarily apply to a ban on Muslim immigration.

“People were so upset when I used the word Muslim,” Trump said. “Oh, you can’t use the word Muslim. Remember this. And I’m OK with that, because I’m talking territory instead of Muslim.”

“Our Constitution is great. But it doesn’t necessarily give us the right to commit suicide, OK?” Trump continued. “Now, we have a religious, you know, everybody wants to be protected. And that’s great. And that’s the wonderful part of our Constitution. I view it differently.”- Huffington Post
