Trump may have violated campaign laws by using private employee to write Melania’s speech: report

Source: Raw Story

According to the Washington Post, it may have been a violation of campaign finance laws for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump to use private corporate resources to write a campaign speech.

According to the Post, Meredith McIver, 65, is a full-time employee of the Trump Organization and not a paid campaign staffer. She took responsibility for lifting two passages from Michelle Obama’s 2008 convention speech for Melania Trump’s highly-anticipated Monday night speech.

“On the face of it, this looks like a corporate violation,” Lawrence Noble, general counsel for the Campaign Legal Center, told the Post. That is “a violation of federal law. It can result in civil penalties to the corporation and the campaign.”

It’s a criminal offense if the campaign used private resources “willingly and knowingly,” the Post reports.

I'm shocked too, I tell you, shocked!!!!

Actually, what would shock me a hell of a lot more would be him obeying the rules or telling the truth, but that doesn't happen.

...for our candidate. I insisted that he accept $0.20 a page and let him square it with his employer. One just doesn't do stuff like that, or what Trump's campaign says she did.

Trump will:
1. attack the questioner for being unfair to him
2. feign ignorance of the rules due to his "outsider" status
3. say "oops" and make his naughty little boy face

like Trump U, for example.

Its like this is his business model on everything, stiff everyone and hope he doesn't get caught, and then have some plagiarist material, being presented by his wife, that either could or should have been

(A) research what was being said, like being vetted

(B) didn't ask any questions, so that it passed the vetted process

(C) thought the teleprompter was a camera shot to look like a first lady, well she failed all three, and she is in the inner circle on the vetting

(D) none of the above

And he's allowed to have a business, he is allowed to present a business plan to the State of New York or wherever he operates and he turns right around and breaks the law----------------if I, or you, were to do this, we, I , you would be jail----------------tell me what I am missing here.

If it is, indeed, a violation of Campaign Finance laws, then let the cards fall where they may.
