Republican convention: Coulter delivers fiery anti-immigration speech to California delegates

Source: San Jose Mercury News

CLEVELAND -- Ann Coulter, the nativist firebrand, delivered a harsh anti-immigration speech Wednesday to California delegates to the Republican National Convention, warning them that the state's growing diversity had decimated their party and threatened to undermine the nation.

"There are 200 separate languages spoken in California ... the country is slipping away from us so fast," Coulter told the GOP delegates as they ate breakfast in their hotel outside Cleveland.

Coulter, the author of the anti-immigration book "Adios America," appeared to be an odd choice to address a delegation that includes more than a dozen Latino members. Her appearance was personally arranged by Silicon Valley tycoon Peter Thiel, said Tim Clark, Trump's California campaign director.

Thiel, a Trump delegate from San Francisco, is scheduled to address the convention on Thursday.

warning them that the state's growing diversity had decimated their party

Was this what she said, or the writer's take on what she said?

If perchance, it's what she said, it would be one of the few times she has been correct ... when a party only appeals to white folks, any increase in the numbers and/or engagement of PoC, will in fact, decimate said party.

"... the country is slipping away from us so fast".

Who is "US"? Native American dialects were the first in California, then Spanish. English was a relative late-comer.

So who does she mean when she says "us"?

I asked his Hispanic wife when her family moved to the US. She said they never did. They arrived in what is now NM in the late 1600's and a couple of hundred years later they became part of the US.

They should have built a wall.

I wish that California would slip away from the Divided States of America. Especially if the country falls into the hands of the Hiteresque Trump party.

If there is any native language in California other than native American languages it is probably Spanish. And Chinatown didn't happen yesterday either.
