Melania Trump Echoes Michelle Obama in Convention Speech
Source: Bloomberg Politics
Melania Trump, in her potentially breakthrough moment, appears to have lifted some of her first night convention speech from a surprising source: Michelle Obama.
...snip...
"From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say," Melania Trump said as she told her life story.
It strongly echoed Michelle Obama's own words at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. "Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond," she said in Denver.
...snip...
Tommy Vietor, a former national security spokesman for President Barack Obama, said the similarity was "pretty egregious."

(101,361 posts)so he may write it off as just more of his "normal standards don't apply to me" bullshit. But that would show he's not 'pivoting' to a conventional campaign.
What I find interesting is that they took it from Michelle's speech - the woman the bigoted hoards in Trump's base have been attacking for years. I wonder what that crowd is saying - that Melania wants to emulate Michelle? It might not go down too well with them.

(12,437 posts)They, Trumpeters spin more lies.... insulated Ms Trump....Ya know, If Michelle had done that in 2008, she would NEVER be given a free pass....I think I hate the GOP...yes. I hate them.

(135,425 posts)It didn't strongly echo--it was pure plagiarism.
That's how MSNBC is running with it---they played 2 clips, and Melania COPIED Michelle.
She said she wrote it--so she's a liar too.

If they go with the blame the speech writer, it makes her a big fat liar.

You seem to think logic still applies.
We've been down the rabbit hole for some time now.
Anyway, worst case a speechwriter gets canned,
they scream LIBERAL PC! and the mob goes wild.
