Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump trailed Democratic rival Hillary Clinton by 12 percentage points in a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Friday, making him the clear underdog ahead of next week's Republican National Convention.
Forty-five percent of likely voters supported former Secretary of State Clinton, 33 percent supported Trump, the wealthy businessman, and the remainder supported neither, according to the July 11-15 online poll.
.......................
Clinton has been ahead in the poll since early January. Trump only approached her level of support in May, after his last two remaining rivals quit the race and he became the presumptive Republican nominee.
Trump's favorability has dropped since then, .................

The poll results suggest that Clintons use of personal email for government business while secretary of state and her handling of classified information have not damaged her support among likely voters. ...................

(30,058 posts)To see Hillary get a bump after the DNC convention. It will be on to the debates of which Trump may or may not show up. It is time to start repeating his lies just during the time the campaigns have been running, he wants to talk about lies, then we should feel his desire with his own lies. It will have to come from a PAC group. Lyin' Trump.

(67,782 posts)....they said that Clinton's lead "narrowed"!
No it's up by 1/3 over the previous lead and they act like she's only ahead.
On the other hand, national polls are pointless, a candidate only wins by winning from state to state.

And yet, oddly, they are completely absent.

My spark of hope? Even in the close polls, Trump is not rising. Instead Clinton is falling. My hope is that her drop off is a temporary response to the phony Comey E-Mail BS. Perhaps Trump has hit the "Crazy Wing Nut Ceiling"?
Some folks may be disappointed with the (again) phony E-mail controversy ginned up by our fair and balanced media, but they don't seem to be flocking to Trump. Instead they are identifying as "other" or "undecided".
When the final decision has to be made, I predict it will be an anti-Trump vote that sways the 20% or so of uncommitted voters.

Thanks, for paying attention, but how can this poll say 12 points ahead and another says 40-40 tie..... these are rigged polls, some lean left and some lean right, so are completely conservative and some are completely liberal, but majority are BULLSHIT.
thanks

(3,072 posts)Some dems have strayed a bit after the FBI presser last week but a solid VP pick and convention should finish this election off. She has a strong team behind her and a lot of political savvy. I believe we will pull this off.

(1,306 posts)a five to ten point "convention bump" in the polls next week, right ?
At which time I, and most other democrats, will temporarily lose our minds,
like I do whenever I read a post about a forbidding poll result or when I see
a map of states that favor Trump and I think "what the fuck is wrong with
this world !!" Then I will be calmer when I realize election day is more than
100 days from now.
I am tempted to avoid CNN, MSNBC, and all DU polling alerts until Nov 1st.

(3,867 posts)is the same as its always been & will not change, right wingers. I don't think Pence adds a thing & apparently dim don doesn't think much of him since he was trying to back out of his choice. I think that was after Pence had already said he wouldn't run again in In.
Anyone know that if that is the case? If it is, talk about a stab in the back, typical tRump, !me,me,me.me! Sure builds trust, doncha think?
Some voters are hesitant after FBI, but I think they will come around for Hill, after thinking about the alternative.
I worry about her being too far ahead in the polls, afraid people might not bother to vote.
I'm with HER->
