Clinton on race relations: Let's think better of each other

Although voters believe Donald Trump is better suited to handle top issues, Hillary Clinton is ahead in the battleground state of Virginia.

Clinton bests Trump by seven percentage points in the presidential race (44-37 percent), according to a new Fox News Poll of Virginia registered voters. That’s within the poll’s margin of sampling error.

The good news for Trump is that among just those voters “extremely” interested, he’s up by three (45-42 percent). That’s driven by the fact that more Republicans (43 percent) than Democrats (38 percent) say they are extremely interested in the presidential

Clinton owes her edge to women (49-32 percent), blacks (83-5 percent), and voters over age 45 (45-39 percent). ...........................

1. If it's a Fox News poll then the real number is somewhere between 20-25 points...

7 points is still in 'horse race' territory.

I'm just having a difficult time accepting that Trump is as popular as the polls make it seem.

Maybe it's just me and my general mistrust where this stuff is concerned.

6. I am surprised Clinton is ahead in over 45 year old voters

Trump seems to me to appeal to older "value voters" who are not as offended by racism and misogyny as more sensitized younger voters.

This is not a slam at older voters. I am one. And I was raised to believe whites are superior, LGBT folk are criminal perverts and proper women are submissive.

After all, when I was a kid black folk were not allowed to use the same bathrooms, drinking fountains, swimming pools, etc. as white folk.

I have "evolved' during my 70 plus years of experience, but most (not all) of the folk I know in my age group have not.

Perhaps I have misjudged my Baby Boomer generation. I hope so.

8. could be a sampling thing - more over-45 people polled, or turnout model weighting adjusted

without looking at the crosstabs, i'd guess she's probably up with under-45, too
hell, with a 7-pt lead overall, she's probably up at least 3 in most demographics
this is very good news in a week where the MSM is doing everything they can to pump the GOP
