S. Carolina megachurch ousts founder as senior pastor
Updated 3:46 pm, Sunday, July 10, 2016
ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) The founder of South Carolina's massive NewSpring Church has been ousted as senior pastor over problems including alcohol use.
The Independent Mail in Anderson reports (http://goo.gl/1yPf95 ) that another church leader, executive pastor Shane Duffey, announced at a Sunday service that the Christian church had removed the Rev. Perry Noble on July 1.
Duffey cited Noble's "unfortunate choices" and said the church's board had confronted Noble multiple times about his drinking.
A statement attributed to Noble and read during the service confirmed that he overused alcohol, and said "No one is more disappointed in me than I am in myself."

(13,871 posts)Five or six churches, 33,000 see it's services every Sunday; they use big screens for the preacher but each location has their own music and and other speakers on stage. Most are old K Marts.
Doesn't seem too bad. Basic Southern Baptist theology but since it is a young demographic they don't emphasize gay issues, drinking, etc like most. But the devotion of most of its members is a bit concerning to me.

(45,319 posts)reserved for that other guy, God. Perry confuses himself with that other guy because his congregation paid him as if he was that other guy. The people of his Church own everything this creep has said or done.

And there is absolutely no domestic abuse."
In recent weeks, Noble forfeited the pulpit to guest speakers ...

I have nothing but admiration for good, church-run charities - but if these clowns are going to use Christ's name to make money, they must at the very least pay their taxes just like any entertainer does (or should).

(301 posts)80% must be spent on charitable works. 20% for Administrative costs.
They get taxed on the percentage that they use above 20% for mega salaries and Administrative costs..
I'm just thinking off the top of my head here. I have no idea how one would make a determination of what is charitable works.

question is who is the church? the congregation or the preacher
perhaps the congregation elite feels they outgrew him
