Gingrich 'actively lobbying' to be Trump's running mate: report
Source: MSN/The Hill
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who is reportedly on Donald Trump's shortlist of vice presidential candidates, is "actively lobbying" to be the presumptive nominee's running mate, sources told CNN Saturday.
Gingrich said earlier this week that he would be inclined to accept an offer to be on the ticket if Trump asked him.
"If Trump offers the position and is serious about it, which I think he would be after our conversations, [my wife] Callista and I would feel compelled to serve the country," the former Speaker said on Fox News's "On the Record."

"We like Newt, and I'll tell you why. Newt has been my friend for a long time, and I'm not saying anything, and I'm not telling even Newt anything," he said. "But I can tell you, in one form or another, Newt Gingrich is going to be involved with our government, that I can tell you."

(15,035 posts)Riding another's coattails is the only possibility the Newt has for re-emerging in the government, and what better tails to hitch his star to than those of a pathologically immature narcissist.

(9,426 posts)Newt divorced one wife (who was battling cancer) because "She is not pretty enough to be First Lady" So, he thinks zombie Calista IS? Well, Newticles, I do not think YOU or tRump is "Handsome or smart enough to be President" Two fat blowhards, full of their own importance. Gingrich had his chance, and failed in a spectacular way.

Can she close her eyes, or does she have to stay awake to keep an eye on her wandering husband? I think his days as a "ladies man" ended years ago. Fat, blowhard. Imagine the Tiffany bills if SHE got anywhere near the credit cards of the government?

(17,505 posts)That man has been nuts for decades!
He wrote this book back when he was ruining the country in the '90s, called "To Renew America". It's like bad Scifi. I remember just opening up the thing randomly and reading.... reading about diagnostic chairs that will make a doctor visit obsolete... about how if we get rid of public schools, everyone will seek out knowledge on their own and become scholars..... if we take away the "safety net", the poor will get busy and become entrepreneurs.... and other clueless fantasies. Remember, if Newty thought of it, it's a great idea!
That is some special kind of "nuts".

(10,857 posts)With the lavish amounts of spare time that the American people have provided him, Gingrich dabbles in futurology--not the cool art movement, but the supposed art of envisioning the future based upon current developments in many fields.
Notable futurologists, of which Gingrich is not a part, include Ray Kurzweil and Richard Feynman.
Gingrich even got his name on a series of alternative history novels by William Forstchen, which may someday be noted along with Mein Kampf as books people should have read before they let the author wind up in charge.
And mark my words, if Gingrich gets on the ticket, he will wind up in charge, first as Trump's Cheneyesque eminance grise, then forcing Trump out of office by hook or by crook.

(959 posts)so he's figuring that Trump will either bolt, or be impeached and he'll sweep in this way. What a gigantic turd these two are. And sadly, old Newtie could be right. Trump has no desire to be president; he wants to be king of all media (move over Howard!) So Newt Gingrich, outcast and bloated ego, is betting it all that this ploy will work. It's nauseating to watch.

BTW, I thought that Trump was supposed to release his YUUUUUUUUUGE, AWESOME, TERRIFIC, GREATEST CONVENTION SPEAKER LINEUP EVER IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICA, OR THE WORLD, FOR THAT MATTER a few days ago. I've only seen a blurb saying that Ted Cruz had accepted an invitation to speak. Are they having problems filling all the slots?!?
