Sanders Says He値l Do Everything Possible to Help Elect Clinton

Source: Bloomberg

“We have got to do everything that we can to defeat Donald Trump and elect Hillary Clinton,” the Vermont senator said in an interview Thursday with Bloomberg’s Albert R. Hunt for PBS’s “Charlie Rose” program. “I don’t honestly know how we would survive four years of a Donald Trump” as president.

Sanders expressed satisfaction with the progress of policy and party platform talks between his campaign and Clinton’s, even as some positions on issues such as trade and fracking remain unresolved. "At the end of the day we’re going to be united," he said.

Trade Deal

At the same time, Sanders indicated he may remain a thorn in the side of Democratic leaders, seeking to use the Democratic platform to block a vote on the Trans-Pacific Partnership during the congressional session after the election but before lawmakers are sworn in for the next term.

“I happen to believe that we should have as our vice presidential nominee a very strong progressive voice, somebody who has a history of standing up to big money interests, somebody who is gonna fight for the working families of this country and who has a history of doing that,” Sanders said. He declined to say whether Kaine meets that test. “I don’t want to comment on Tim Kaine.”

Warren Lauded

Sanders didn’t hesitate when asked if another potential Clinton running mate, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, meets the test.

“I would be pleased” if Clinton chooses Warren, Sanders said, calling her “one of the outstanding members of the United States Senate.”

from the article: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Thursday affirmed that he would support opponent Hillary Clinton in the general election if she wins the nomination.

I couldn't find anything earlier, but I didn't look real hard either.

Either way it's good news, and will prolong Bernie's influence on the Democratic Party beyond November.

A shallow endorsement done by default isn't meaningful.

Vetting her hard and then finally deciding to endorse after careful consideration - meaningful.

Allow me to remain skeptical until such time that "will" becomes "is" with respect to Bernie.

So that cost me a fiver.

But if someone gets on late, or has to catch up toe the train when it's stopped at one of the refueling or water-tower stops, they kinda of have to take what's left over.

I'm sure there's room for late-comers to squeeze-in if they don't mind the baggage car or the caboose.
