BuzzFeed likens Donald Trump to cigarettes, refuses to run his ads
Source: Washington Post
BuzzFeed just quit Donald Trump like a smoking habit. No patch. No gum. The site is going cold turkey.
Here's the key sentence in a Monday memo from BuzzFeed chief executive Jonah Peretti to his staff: "We don't run cigarette ads because they are hazardous to our health, and we won't accept Trump ads for the exact same reason."
BuzzFeed will, of course, continue to cover the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. But it said its advertising department has terminated an agreement with the Republican National Committee that would have included ads for the party's presidential ticket in the fall.
More from Peretti:
The Trump campaign is directly opposed to the freedoms of our employees in the United States and around the world and, in some cases, such as his proposed ban on international travel for Muslims, would make it impossible for our employees to do their jobs.

You would be up in arms had they refused to run ads for Obama, as would I.
Rigtfully so......

(274 posts)Trump is populist, he says what people want to hear depending on where he is and whats trending.....
I think his rejection of windfarms around his golf courses is a crime against our environment in the name of aesthetics. As an adamant environmentalist his love of coal and oil boils my blood.
All of ithis aside I dont want to see Media blanket banning any candidate....Its gives people, his followers, natural rights that aren't condusive to maintaining order.

(27,461 posts)but they're foregoing the cash Trump wanted to give them.
Wouldn't the ones being biased by cash be the ones that run his ads?

It took me 3 years to quit, ditching drinking coffee, and being absolutely elated that I managed to get that monkey off of my back.
I dreamt about the damn things for a solid year.
