McAuliffe: Investigation Has 'Nothing to Do' With the Clinton Foundation

Source: Fredonia Leader

"Neither the governor nor his former campaign has knowledge of this matter, but as reported, contributions to the campaign from Mr. Wang were completely lawful", Elias said in his statement
Wang, who holds permanent US resident status, has also contributed to New York University, Harvard and environmental issues in Florida, CNN stated. "I've traveled the world with President Clinton and we have a lot of the same friends".

There are over 100 people who donated to both the Clinton Global Initiative that also donated to Terry McAuliffe. Former governor Robert McDonnell was found guilty of public corruption in 2014 after an investigation found the couple had trades governmental favors in returns for loans and gifts from a businessman. I didn't bring him into the Clinton foundation.

Speaking with reporters in Virginia in Thursday, the Democratic governor maintained that a donation from a Chinese businessman was above board and "fully vetted". Wang's company also runs a port in China that's a major route to ship goods into North Korea. Meanwhile, officials say the McAuliffe investigation is active and moving forward but would not comment on whether or not charges are pending or on other aspects of the investigation. Investigators are looking in part at the $120,000 West Legend, a New Jersey company, contributed.

"Investigations happen. No one has alleged any wrong doing on my part", McAuliffe said.

Sorry for the delay but I took the time to look it over

Here's some of the media coverage (can't shoot the messenger on all of it):

CNN: Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe under federal investigation for campaign contributions

Gov. Terry McAuliffe under federal investigation for campaign contributions

Washington Post: Clinton Foundation donors gave $13 million to Terry McAuliffe

120 Clinton Foundation Donors Gave $13.4 Million To Terry McAuliffe’s Campaigns

Prosecutions rare under law cited in McAuliffe probe

McAuliffe heads off probe that could hurt Clinton

Authorities investigate whether Terry McAuliffe violated lobbying restrictions

Terry McAuliffe’s failing memory

McAuliffe:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_McAuliffe#Fundraising_career_and_relationship_with_the_Clintons
- Clinton friend for 30+ years
- McAuliffe and his staff raised $275 million, then an unprecedented sum, for Clinton's causes while president.
- co-chairman of President Bill Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign
- McAuliffe guaranteed the Clintons' $1.35 million mortgage for their home in Chappaqua, New York. The deal raised ethical questions
- In 2000, McAuliffe chaired a fundraiser with the Clintons; setting a fundraising record of $26.3 million.
- named by Bill Clinton as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, from 2001 to 2005, - chairman of Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign.
- was a director of the Clinton Foundation during his time as Chairman of the DNC, from early 2000s until Nov 2013. (fyi Cheryl Mills was also a director during that period and continues as of 2014)

Then there's this site (shoot the messenger warning - video by Citizen's United):
http://fastterry.com/

There's this recent story from a Virginia paper to back up the video
Founded by McAuliffe and funded by foreign investors, GreenTech misses targets, damages credibility, feds say

Washington Post: Report: Va. governor received special treatment from Homeland Security
McAuliffe was among several politically powerful individuals from both parties, including Sen. Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.), seeking special visas for foreign investors through a program administered by the department. But intervention on behalf of McAuliffe’s GreenTech Automotive company by Alejandro Mayorkas, now the department’s No. 2 official, “was unprecedented,” according to the report.

The long-anticipated report found no evidence of law-breaking. But members of the department’s staff perceived Mayorkas’s actions as “politically motivated,” and the report concluded that he had “created an appearance of favoritism and special access.”

The report is likely to stir up renewed scrutiny of the department’s management of the EB-5 visa program, which allows foreign nationals who create jobs in the United States to obtain green cards. And it is likely to rekindle examination of McAuliffe and GreenTech, which at the time of Mayorkas’s actions was under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission over its conduct in soliciting foreign investors.

Initially popular with lawmakers from both parties, the visa program has prompted accusations from detractors that it puts visas up for sale — and doesn’t provide sufficient oversight to ensure that the promised jobs materialize.

The troubling thing with the EB-5 visas is that this isn't the only time it's come up with the Clinton Foundation.

Fortune: The dark, disturbing world of the visa-for-sale program

Hillary’s Brother Saw The Clintons As His Road To Riches
His company was sister company to McAuliffe's car company locaed right beside each other.

I read about visas and the Clinton Foundation last year - a suggestion that they were doing people favors in return for contributions to the Foundation- I'm trying rattle my brain to dig that up - had something to do with South America and other visas I think. That was the thing that triggered me to look at McAuliffe more closely. So this isn't the first time visas and the Clinton Foundation has been kicked around. McAuliffe as a long time director of the Clinton Foundation - until he became governor - is being investigated for what he did before he became governor - while a director of the Clinton Foundation. So this touches pretty close to home to the Clintons in several ways.

This is worth keeping our eyes on because there is a lot of smoke around it that isn't all right wing media/GOP driven.

6. So it involves the EB-5 visas

Such great research! What a mess EB-5 are. We should just do like Canada does. And green cards bought like this should not allow voting or contributions to any political party for the life of the recipients.

I can't believe a member of the Chinese government can just buy membership into the USA and then donate money to politicians. That's barely one degree of separation from foreign influence.

The Clintons seem to be more commie lovers than Bernie the Socialist Sanders. How ironic.

Thanks for giving me so much food for thought.

Thanks to DemMomma4Sanders for the thread as I didn't know about this.

As I mentioned above, the visas were something I'd run into with other research of the Clinton Foundation. Some of it was a different type of visa allowing cheaper labor (H-1Bs which became a sore point for me when the Latinos in Nevada supporting Hillary smeared Bernie who was fighting against such a thing taking American jobs that Hillary effectively supported in the Senate).

The Clintons left the White House effectively broke according to Hillary and somehow, a bunch of rich people, including other governments, gave them or their Foundation about $4 billion dollars since 2000. That's a lot of dough and pretty amazing panhandling results. Often, people get a wing of a hospital named after them or something for their money. Can't blame the authorities for taking a really close look at what was going on because it has quite an odor to it.

McAuliffe was a key money raiser for them and they're looking at what he did for them and others during his years as a Clinton Foundation director. That has to make the Clintons even more nervous as it's a sign the subpoenas of the Clinton Foundation might be bearing fruit. The timing of all this is frightening for her candidacy. I hope the Democratic party realizes it. Because there's no way there's enough time to clear her name of allegations should this hit the mainstream media in a big way before the election - even if she's innocent. The Republicans smell the blood in the water because they've launch six lawsuits for material related to this.

Judge orders Obama administration to release new Clinton emails

A federal judge has ordered the Obama administration to release new emails connected to Hillary Clinton before Democratic National Convention in July.

In an order late on Wednesday, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson told the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to hand over to the Republican National Committee (RNC) whatever records it could as part of an RNC’s open-records lawsuit on July 11.

After that, USAID will need to consult with the State Department about hundreds of other pages of documents, which could be released at some point in the future.

The RNC sued the aid agency in March, seeking two sets of communications: those between USAID officials and former aides at the State Department, as well as those between USAID and private domain names associated with Clinton, former President Bill Clinton and others including the Clinton Foundation. The effort appeared to be related to allegations that the former secretary of State’s family foundation had undue influence on USAID.
The RNC lawsuit was one of several it has filed seeking records connected to Clinton, the likely Democratic presidential nominee, in a preview of a battle sure to last through the general election.

The tough part of this situations is the Republicans do not need a conviction. All they need is good smear material for their allegations to be effective to sway voters. Should she survive and win the election, they may circle back looking for a conviction to impeach.

Timing is everything. If the GOP spring this in the fall, it could hand Trump the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. At that point, Plan B is almost impossible to execute.

So this whole thing scares the crap out of me and we'd be wise to keep on eye on it.

Who back in 2004 refused to secure Dem Ohio voting process and got DNC close its eyes regarding voter suppression.
Because he had an interrest in a Kerry loss and a second Bush term so that his dear Clinton friends could be on tracks for 2008.
Pure political dishonesty charachterizes the man and its not new.
