Sanders' Quest for Superdelegates Loses One After Virgin Island Official Flips to Clinton

Source: Bloomberg

Bernie Sanders is trying to persuade Democratic Party superdelegates backing Hillary Clinton to flip their allegiance as a last-ditch bid for the nomination, but one Sanders supporter is going the other way.

Emmett Hansen II, the Democratic National Committeeman for the U.S. Virgin Islands, decided to shift his support to Clinton after a weekend briefing on her plans for U.S. territories that followed months of dissatisfaction with Sanders’ lack of concrete positions.

His reasons go right to the heart of Clinton's critique of the Sanders campaign. Hansen said that while he’s a believer in sweeping change, he also wants to get things done.

“There are no more windmills to joust against and no more mountains to climb,” said Hansen, a native of St. Croix who was on the Sanders campaign's list of publicly committed superdelegate supporters. “It comes down to one thing: what’s best for the Virgin Islands, to be fully incorporated into the United States.”

Who makes the decisions on fully incorporating the Virgin Islands. I am asking because I really don't know.

And Congress has been killing Puerto Rican statehood in comittee for years now, even after the Puerto Ricans voted in favor of union back in 2012.

So if Mr. Hansen really thinks Hillary Clinton can just grant statehood.. .well...

It's getting more & more difficult to tell the difference between Sanders fans and Trump fans.

or that the Democratic primaries are rigged?

or that Clinton is unqualified?

The fact is that Sanders and Trump are now more alike than not, tag-teaming the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, using the same rhetoric, using the same violent tactics, & using the same talking points.

Or is Trump parroting Sanders? See, there's really no difference between the two. And if either of them wins, America & the Democratic Party - along with the great majority of people - loses.

Meanwhile, Clinton is her own person. And Madam President will be great for the country, as you well know.
