Bernie Sanders Supporters Unleash Sexist, Nasty Attacks On Nevada’s Dem Chair

The worst bits of this surfaced on Saturday at the Nevada Democratic Party convention, when a near-riot broke out. The state party chairwoman, Roberta Lange, has been deluged with threatening and sexist voicemails and text messages in the days since.
------------------------------
Sanders supporters blamed Lange for undermining their efforts, and they lashed out accordingly. Some of the reaction was reported Monday by The New York Times.
But that was just the tip of the iceberg. The Huffington Post obtained additional texts and voicemails sent to Lange, as well as footage from inside the Paris Las Vegas Hotel, where the convention was held. The texts and calls, which came after Langes phone number and address were posted on Twitter, threatened violence and contained sexist epithets. One person threatened to buy a home near Lange, while another encouraged her to prepare for hell.
---------------------------------------------
The Sanders campaign has responded to the threats by saying it doesnt condone violence, as well as by encouraging Democrats to figure out a way to welcome people who have been energized and excited by his campaign into the party. Some Democrats have deemed this an insufficient attempt to tamp down the rhetoric and emotions.
But its not entirely clear whether Sanders is willing to go further. He ducked a question on the Las Vegas incident while on the trail Tuesday. His campaign didnt immediately return a request for comment for this piece. And Lange, in an interview with MSNBC on Tuesday, said she had not heard from the Sanders campaign.
---------------------------
The taverns Facebook page and website were overtaken by people demanding that Lange be fired. Someone created a phony Facebook account for Lange that accused her of scurrilous stuff as Gallagher put it and claimed her husband had committed crimes against children. Someone managed to alter the Google search results so it appeared the tavern was permanently closed.
Ive been in politics for 50 years now, said Gallagher, who ran for Congress in 2004. And I think Bernie is losing control of his people. These are folks out there who have no concept about rational political discourse. Now a lot of Bernies folks are really good friends of mine and theyre embarrassed by this. But there are crazies out there that are truly a little scary.

(14,176 posts)There will always be a few extremely emotional folks that will take it too far. All that means is that there are plenty of others that are politely outraged. A few rude hotheads is not the story and you know it. I'll just remind everyone that there is plenty to be outraged about, and it should not be quelled by a few idiots or the establishment patsies that will grasp at anything they can to obscure the blatant abuse of position by Lange and other Hillary shills.

How is that so hard for some of you guys to understand?
And what about the Clinton delegates excluded? Were they Democrats?
And the procedures that weren't followed? the early voice votes while folks were still in line?
There are a ton of weird things going on with the NV convention that the M$M and some of you Clintonites are conveniently ignoring.
Unfortunately, for all of us, this will be the tune we will all be playing November if the DNC keeps this shit up....

(2,412 posts)Well, well, it looks to me like an agent provocateur job to me. I doubt very much that these death threats came from Sanders supporters. The coverage on MSNBC was interesting as they interviewed the Democratic Chairperson of Nevada. In her next breath the announcer said: "Today is the day of the Oregon and Kentucky primaries. Hillary just needs to win these to clinch the nomination".
I feel very badly for the Democratic Chair to have these threats to her life and her family but this was not from the Sanders supporters.
The Hillary campaign and supporters are not looking good here. This is a major smear.

(6,891 posts)that the Democratic primary is rigged for Clinton, what in the hell does any of this have to do with the Sander's campaign? Some people said some bad things about and threatened a party apparatchik, who may or may not have been Sanders supporters. So what? What's important is a reckoning for the conduct of the Democratic Party in Nevada, and this little hit piece is a sorry attempt to deflect attention from that, nothing more.

(86 posts)Hillary good - anyone against her bad. And we don't need to mention how pay-day DWS has steered things.
A friend sent this from another board..... How things went down at the Convention.........
1. Have a secret meeting to change the convention rules at the last minute to favor one candidate and give the chair unlimited power without appeal
2. "Pass" the rules even though you don't have a quorum.
3. At the convention make a motion to make those permanent and use the rules to blatantly override the voice vote with no division of the house and no appeal.
4. Use those rules to push through any motion you want while openly ignoring legitimate motions and petitions from the floor.
5. When you discover you've still lost the convention by over 30 delegates disqualify 64 delegates and declare your chosen candidate (clinton) the winner.
6. Once again use your specially created rules to ram through a motion to accept the count ignoring the no vote from the floor.
7. Ignore motions from the floor to remove the chair. Send the chair up to rapidly "pass" several items of business ignoring an overwhelming no vote.
8. Adjourn the meeting with no motion or vote.
9. Here's your police escort out!

HRC as a candidate is so flawed and weak that they have to lash out at any criticism. They've been crying wolf all campaign long, accusing the most liberal of Dems of being sexist and violent... yet on another thread they are laughing and applauding Wendell Pierce's assault on Bernie supporters.
This is the same propaganda used against the anti- Iraq War protesters. We call them out on their lying and cheating and they whine about how we are threatening people.

"A man who appears to be a Bernie Sanders supporter has been reported to the Secret Service after trying to leave an obituary notice for Hillary Clinton in a Nevada newspaper." ...
... "The man was seen leaving the newspapers parking lot in a maroon Toyota Prius with several Sanders campaign stickers, and the newspaper said he was wearing a Sanders sticker on his shirt." ...
... the Demo establishment's political black-ops tinker-toy operation is nothing if not completely amateurish and inept ...
... "Toyota Prius with several Sanders campaign stickers" ... "a Sanders sticker on his shirt" ... so, OF COURSE! ...
... this whole "operation" is to put themselves in a position of being able to demand that the Americans who are for Bernie Sanders be "controlled" ...
... Nevada was the Democratic Party breaking apart ...
... and, it's a set-up for Philadelphia ...

(2,586 posts)by who else? HRC supporter Sam Stein.
1. There is no evidence that Sanders supporters are violent...unless of course you consider the source, which comes from Lange and the event organizers.
2. "Prepare for hell" is not a sexist nasty attack or a death threat. If it was how come nobody was arrested? Shit, the NSA could find out who did it. Isn't Clinton friends with Obama or some shit like that?
3. Anonymous does not work for the Sanders campaign. Quit making stuff up about Sanders supporters being hackers and fucking with a corporation's search results and personal pages (i.e. Facebook).
4. And no Mr.Gallagher, Sanders is not obligated to answer each an everyone of your accusations, just like HRC doesn't have to answer about the lies that Stein is peddling.

(9,141 posts)The did what they wanted and acted so condescending treated those they disagreed with like peasants...no respect so no respect is what they got back.j Your Bernie friends need to watch the videos out by Cenk and others explaining and showing what happened rather than getting their info from "the chair's perspective". I'm 66 and peaceful as can be but even I was angered by how Bernie supporters were treated by those Clinton surrogates in charge of this dem affair. (8,175 posts)I personally think it was fair to call Lange a bitch. I think she was acting like a bitch. If she were a man acting the same way, they might have called her an asshole, bastard, fucker, idiot, fuckwit, shitface, etc. But in this case, I don't care what they called her, it was out of rage for her abysmal behavior and if they called her bitch, she earned it.
Sorry ladies, sometimes the label fits.
I've never seen a person (woman) act with so much contempt for the people she was addressing...all because she was a Hillary supporter and things were no going her way...so she forced them to go her way.
