UPDATE: Sinead O'Connor has been located "safe and is no longer listed as a missing/endangered person," according to Wilmette police. Check back for details.
Wilmette police are looking to check the well-being of Sinead O'Connor, who reportedly left the area for a bicycle ride at 6 a.m. Sunday and has not returned, police said in a statement.
"A caller has expressed concern for her well-being, and no other information is available at this time," the statement said.

(13,776 posts)I'm old enough to remember that whole SNL/ripping up a picture of the pope thing. At the time I thought that, while the uproar was way out of proportion to what she did, it was kind of an inappropriate venue, but I should have realized that doing that with a live nationwide audience was exactly appropriate. She risked her entire career to tell the world what she knew.
Everyone who clutched their pearls at the time (including me, sort of) owes her an apology in light of what we've all learned since then.

This was around the time the BSA was getting hammered, so I have come to suspect all such organizations, especially the virulently homophobic ones, of projecting their own crimes.

She needs medical help, she may be suffering from dementia. I've had relatives just wander off from supervision before and the fear of something happening to them is crippling.
