George Zimmerman’s gun returns to auction block after troll attacks

Source: New York Daily News

Third time's the charm, right?

The controversial firearm George Zimmerman used to fatally shoot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin returned to the auction block Monday, but had received no bids in the first few hours it was available.

Prior attempts to sell the 9mm weapon failed — twice.

The listing bounced from Gun Broker to United Gun Group, where an army of trolls inundated the listing with fake bids and made the asking price skyrocket from $5,000 to $66 million.

It's never going to happen.

Consider the fake bids to be 'public service trolling.'

Everyone who owns a black 9mm Luger handgun and list them on the internet for sale, saying that they were used in an infamous crime. Flood the internet with these things.

....is a statement that the person intends to do so for a lifetime.

Without, hopefully ever using it, ever having to turn it over to the police as part of an investigation, etc.

There is an old saying that bad guys do not wear holsters.

They also do not open carry. They do not carry quality firearms.

Zimmerman's gun is a murder weapon.

My sidearm is a quality piece that I intend to hand down to future generations.

Without ever pointing it at another human being, hopefully.

I'm of the opinion that except for very limited circumstances a gun that is used to kill another human being - even if the shooting is 100% justified - it should be a requirement that the gun should be destroyed at the end of the investigation. Even for law enforcement. That way it can never become a museum piece nor can be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

One of those few exceptions should be if the gun is being used as part of combat operations by a member of the United States Armed Forces.

Maybe provide financial compensation to private owners if the shooting is justified, but say that if a gun takes a human life then it must be destroyed. It just might get people to look at guns with a bit more respect and not be so quick to point them at others. (Though I highly doubt it would),

I'm GLAD that "an army of trolls inundated the listing with fake bids"..and I hope they do it again

I hope that rat bastard Zimmerman ends up with nothing, because, IMO, that's what he deserves!
