Clinton widens delegate lead at Nevada Democratic convention

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Hillary Clinton will maintain her comfortable Nevada delegate lead after turning out more supporters to the Nevada State Democratic Caucus than Bernie Sanders did.

Clinton won seven of the 12 delegates up for grabs at the raucous convention on Saturday, while Sanders won five. Party officials say 1,695 Clinton-supporting delegates and 1,662 Sanders-supporting delegates showed up to the event with the proper credentials.

Of the 43 delegates Nevada will send to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in July, 20 are now pledged to vote for Clinton and 15 are pledged to vote for Sanders, based on the results of the Feb. 20 caucuses and Saturday's convention.

Eight prominent Nevada Democrats are considered unpledged "superdelegates" who can choose whomever they'd like in Philadelphia, although most who publicly committed have said they'll vote for Clinton.

2. 64 Sanders delegates were fraudulently excluded. Clinton only "won" by 33 delegates.
Sat May 14, 2016, 11:38 PM
May 2016

Sexton reported that nearly 64 Bernie Sanders delegates to the state convention were excluded from the convention process. Sanders only had 33 fewer delegates than Clinton in attendance.

“The credentials minority report is based on the challenge of 64 Sanders delegates. Contrary to the procedures and precedents set by the committee, nearly none of these 64 people were presented with the opportunity to be heard by the committee or to demonstrate that they are registered Democrats," Sexton said. "Without the opportunity to be heard, no delegate could be stricken. The actions of the credentials committee violates the spirit of the Nevada state delegate plan which encourages full participation in the democratic process, and it violates the spirit and values of our state and our nation."

The DNC committee member said the report would be submitted to the DNC.

The entire convention was plagued by problems as Sanders supporters decried various voice vote decision, the delegate counts, and booed Sen. Barbara Boxer.

Nevada's delegate process was thrown into chaos after Sanders supporters outnumbered Clinton supporters at the Clark County convention, allowing more of his delegates to attend the state convention.

P.S. Follow up on the Email

I followed up with the Clark County Democratic Party and received an email indicating that committed delegates who checked in at the Friday night meeting DID have their votes counted on Saturday. So the Email was not fraudulent. It turns out that the only reason that Sanders won the county convention was because large numbers of Clinton delegates simply didn't think it was important enough to bother showing up at either event. The caucus voters who voted for Hillary Clinton should be enraged, not at Sanders or his supporters, but at their own elected delegates.

Roberta Lange rushed out on stage, sped through a "vote" to adjourn, and then before she could be forced to run a legitimate vote to adjourn or, before that, take a vote on the motion to recount, threw her gavel and ran away as fast as she could with some police in tow. Hope the the number video records of what actually happened at that convention spread far and wide through social media (as the corporate media will never report on it truthfully). You can bet that the numbers of Democrats who will not vote for HRC should she become the nominee will substantially increase after this. The Philadelphia convention is going to be something else.

46. What turns Bernie suppomrters off to Hillary.
Sun May 15, 2016, 09:27 AM
May 2016

Her desire to win no matter the cost, no matter the ugliness.

The worst is that these dirty tricks and exclusionary devices make her look all the more untrustworthy and dishonest and unfair, and work against her should she actually be the nominee in November.

Hillary looks more and more like a Republican who somehow wandered into the Democratic Party and started throwing muck and mess around.

She looks very unpresidential thanks to all the questionable dirty tricks, lost. Votes, incompetent errors, casting of dice as in Iowa, questionable giving then taking of ballotts, lost and altered registrations in various states, rudeness such as to the woman from Greenpeace, etc.

Reminds me more and more of Tricky Dick.

I'd watch any vice -presidential nominee she might choose. That vice president could easily be president one day.

She is earning her reputation for untrustworthiness more and more each day. The confusion that surrounds her and those in the Party and government who surround her is telling voters something.

It is one of the risks that those who build a political machine take. Such machines roll along on the grease of political favors and appointments, and the cogs in the machine, the cogs who see the advantages of being cogs in the machine and are willing to just play their roles in keeping the machine working are the kind of people who make a lot of compromises on the ethical and maybe not yet but ultimately on the legal level along the way.

A Trump v. Clinton contest in November could, in my opinion, result in problems in November. If there are this many questions about the fairness of the Democratic Primary now, what will happen in the election in November when people who admit to a Republican attitude about fairness and democracy and the right to vote are in charge in so many states?
