Alabama drag queen is suspended chief justice's nightmare

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Wearing big hair, loads of makeup and high heels, small-town drag queen Ambrosia Starling is the new worst nightmare of suspended Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore.
Moore has called out Starling twice by name in recent days while defending himself against allegations of violating judicial canons with his opposition to same-sex marriage. During a news conference and in a written statement, Moore cited the cross-dressing entertainer as a reason he's at risk of losing his job for the second time since 2003.
That's fine with Starling, who helped lead an anti-Moore rally on the steps of the Alabama Supreme Court building in January. Opponents that day filled out more than 40 complaints against Moore, who already was the subject of other complaints and now faces removal from office if convicted of violating judicial ethics.
"If it takes a drag queen to remind you that liberty and justice is for all, here I am," Starling said Tuesday between sips of coffee.

I also know where I'd love to shove that idiotic monument. Bet it would fit, too.

(3,765 posts)the judge. He want to shove the monument because the judge is a huge a....h... so he bets it would fit. I don't think he was referring to Ms. Starling.

(1,196 posts)Inappropriate and denigrating. My son is gay and I have had to put up with ignorant people making jokes like that for years. I almost was fired once for my reaction to a co-workers remarks about my son and a watermelon. When I confronted him he refused to apologize and just kept laughing about it and my reaction. I came close to punching him which would have cost me my job.
Denigrating people by joking about the size of their anal cavity should be off limits these days.
I'm sorry Akicta a put I did not feel that comment was homophobic.

(1,196 posts)I consider it a micro-aggression. I'm sure it was unintentional. I just wanted to educate the poster that jokes about a person's anal size meant to denigrate that person can be viewed as offensive because those jokes are also used to denigrate and make fun of gays. The jerk in Alabama deserves to be denigrated, just not in a way that may be offensive to others.

(60,010 posts)Governor Robert Bentley is facing impeachment after being caught on tape discussing his sexual encounters with a former aide inside the governors office.
House Speaker Mike Hubbard is preparing to go to trial on felony charges that he used his office for personal gain.
And Chief Justice Roy Moore is suspended and facing possible removal from office after directing state probate judges to not to issue same-sex marriage licenses.
Soooooooooooo
Mr. Bentley could appoint Mr. Moores successor, if he is not impeached first.
Mr. Moore could oversee Mr. Bentleys impeachment, unless he is defenestrated, in which case the governors appointee might preside.
Mr. Hubbard would refer the impeachment to the Senate, depending on the verdict of his own trial, which may feature testimony from Mr. Bentley.

His wife is the one who has said she'll carry her "Glock" into Target--in defiance of their anti-gun laws--
in order to "protect herself in the bathroom" because Target announced that customers were welcome
to use bathrooms according to gender identity.
