Donald Trump hits back at 'goofy' Elizabeth Warren
Source: CNN
Donald Trump took to Twitter Friday evening to pile criticism on Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who earlier in the week had condemned the presumptive GOP nominee as a racist.
Trump began Friday, "I hope corrupt Hillary Clinton chooses goofy Elizabeth Warren as her running mate. I will defeat them both."
He continued: "Let's properly check goofy Elizabeth Warren's records to see if she is Native American. I say she's a fraud!"
Next, he tweeted, "Goofy Elizabeth Warren, Hillary Clinton's flunky, has a career that is totally based on a lie. She is not Native American."

(12,590 posts)Seriously, this is Trump's modus operandi. He comes up with some short derogative adjective -- Lying Ted is an example -- and uses it every single time he mentions that person's name. "Goofy" is just plain goofy, however.

(12,590 posts)Actually, it'd probably be "My pal Putin," given how he feels about the man.
Bush degraded people by calling them nicknames rather than their proper names; Trump uses derogative adjectives.

(96 posts)Is it possible that Trump is thinking a few moves ahead on the off-chance that Hillary runs into polling problems before the convention?
The Democratic leadership decides to field a better female nominee at the last minute, and guess who'd be top of that list? Sanders would likely accept a VP ticket because he simply won't have the delegates to command a first-vote victory.
Sound crazy? The Democratic leadership might be stupid but they're not suicidal. If Hillary drops in the polls between now and the convention they will be looking for an strong woman lead to take Clinton's place. Strategically, it would make sense.
..Or I'm totally wrong and everything will play out exactly as the experts are predicting. How accurate have those predictions been so far this season?

(1,196 posts)They should be looking for the best candidate and if it happens to be a woman, so much the better.

(96 posts)They've built up a lot of effort pushing for the first woman president. If Hillary loses, they can't pick another dude because THAT will seem sexist.
For the same reason, I don't think it would be a Sanders/Warren ticket because it would be seen as promoting the same classic stereotype with the woman playing second-tier to Bernie.
I'm sorry if it came off as sexist, I'm just trying to analyze this from the lens of the high-level Democratic strategist.

He can call her any kindergarten playground name that pops into his head, but it won't make a difference. Trump and his camp are concerned about Warren.

(280 posts)This is the only Trump anyone will get. If elected he will nah, nah, na nah na in repartee to anyone who disagrees with him. Whether world leaders, especially women, or reporters he will increase and embellish his childish 'bully pulpit' tactics with personal disparagements, meanness, arrogance and all the natural negativity of his personality.
