Dems file to repeal HB 2

RALEIGH A group of Democratic lawmakers filed Monday to repeal House Bill 2 the law signed last month which excludes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people from statewide anti-discrimination protections and requires transgender people to use restrooms matching the sex on their birth certificate.
I say it to my children all the time, said N.C. Rep. Darren Jackson (D-Wake). It is never too late to do the right thing.
This is not a bathroom bill, but there is a lot of stuff in there that ought to be thrown in the outhouse.

The bill, co-sponsored by Jackson, Grier Martin (D-Wake) Graig Meyer (D-Orange) and Susi Hamilton (D-New Hanover) would also appropriate $545,000 to fund the state Human Relations Commission.

(22,157 posts)If a person dressed as a woman, or a person dressed as a man, go into a bathroom, who's going to check and see that they're not? Are there gender police in all the bathrooms ready to do strip searches on everyone? And what happens if they're wrong?
