Shooting during prom at Antigo High School in Wisconsin

Deputies are at the scene of at Antigo High School in northern Wisconsin after shots were fired during prom. Witnesses told BNO News that there are multiple victims, though authorities are yet to provide information. (more)

The shooting happened at around 11 p.m. CT on Saturday when multiple gunshots were fired at the Antigo High School in Antigo, which is a city in Langlade County. It happened towards the end of prom.

Details about the exact circumstances of the shooting were not immediately known, but a witness told BNO News that several people had been shot. A person who answered the phone at the Langlade County Sheriff's Office declined to provide information.

There is no word on the status of the shooter, but deputies are not treating it as an active shooter situation.

3. Shooting at High School Prom Leaves 3 Injured in Wisconsin (including suspect)

The shooting took place just after 11 p.m., local time, when the suspect showed up with a rifle outside the building and started shooting, said Police Chief Eric Roller with the Antigo Police Department.

Two students from the prom were shot as they exited the building, said Roller.

According to Roller, police were already in the parking lot patrolling the event when they heard the gunshots and shot the suspect.

Roller said the suspect was also injured and was taken into custody and then transported to the hospital. He added that no other injuries were reported and all the people within the prom were eventually escorted from the school.
