New York City Watchdog Decries 'Irregularities' In Primary Voting

A New York City official on Tuesday ordered an audit of the city's election authorities, citing "deep concern over widespread reports of poll site problems and irregularities" as voters cast their ballots in the state's primary election.
New York Republicans and Democrats are holding presidential nominating contests for the Nov. 8 election. Delegate-rich New York, the fourth most populous U.S. state, is a big prize for the candidates.
"There is nothing more sacred in our nation than the right to vote, yet election after election, reports come in of people who were inexplicably purged from the polls, told to vote at the wrong location or unable to get into their polling site," city Comptroller Scott Stringer said.
Stringer said his office had received reports of polling stations that failed to open on time and were unable to tell voters when they would be operational. A voter in the borough of Queens reported a broken machine and staff instructing voters to place their ballots in a "slot" for processing at a later time.

Bungled NYC primary voting sparks Board of Elections probe: 'We intend to find out why BOE is so consistently disorganized, chaotic and inefficient'
Widespread reports of Primary Day problems that made voting a challenge for many New Yorkers prompted the city comptroller to announce a probe of the Board of Elections.
There is nothing more sacred in our nation than the right to vote, said Comptroller Scott Stringer, who planned an audit of the citys voting apparatus.
Yet election after election, reports come in of people who were inexplicably purged, told to vote at the wrong location or unable to get into their polling site.
Early morning voters Tuesday found broken machines, locked doors and poorly trained election workers, Stringer wrote in a letter to the board.

Just for giggles does anyone know how many polling places there are in New York City, and does anyone have any idea how many voters there are in New York City ................................this is amazing.
Why is there not mail in paper ballots---------------------------why? It is being done in Oregon................
Because you have to sign the ballot and it is really hard to do something with that signature..........
I thought motor voter was suppose to have solved this problem, to have a list....................

(9,992 posts)sign that said "VOTE. 12-9." with a peace sign on it at the end of someone's gravel driveway. I wondered what the hell that meant.
I was on the road all day and just now had the chance to get online.
Holy hell.

(14,587 posts)we can smell a very big rat. They need to let those people vote provisional ballots and those provisional ballots need to count. I think a judge just so ruled. Because this is rank bullshit and whomever is behind it needs to be brought up on charges.

(14,587 posts)we are STILL faced with 125,000 voters who were somehow 'purged' from the rolls WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION. So if it isn't a conspiracy, then how do you want to spin it? Because it has happened in several other states.

(9,423 posts)125,000 from Bernie's home town? The ones who were given the opportunity to file provisional ballots? That's a pretty lame conspiracy theory. And what exactly happened in several other states? And why did "it" (whatever you think "it" means) happen in some states and not others? And were these states Bernie's hometowns too?
Absence of evidence does not constitute evidence. Speculations about evidence that may or may not exist does not constitute evidence. Give it a break already!

Election grant information is on page 4 from the Budget Hearing. Each state has to go before Congress twice a year to testify or account for election readiness in each state.
