Romney Should Explain to Colorado and New Mexico Why They Need Fewer Firefighters

Source: Crooks and Liars

Mitt Romney's claim that there are too many firefighters might sound awesome to crazy conservatives, but to the residents of Colorado and New Mexico, it might sound like he doesn't really care if their homes burn down.

Via 9News.com in Colorado:

The High Park Fire is now at 36,930 acres and growing significantly, with zero percent containment. Larimer County says 400 personnel are fighting the blaze. Monday afternoon, officials said at least 100 structures have been damaged or destroyed by the fire.

According to Larimer County, flames lept 15 to 20 feet in the air, with some flames shooting 300 feet into the sky. Very dry brush, timber and grasses are providing the fuel for this fire.

What they may not realize is that Mitt Romney has a long-standing crusade against firefighters. Salon reports:http://www.salon.com/2012/06/11/romneys_fight_against_firefighters/

The less govt. crowd would rather burn this country to the ground rather than support it with public services..

I say drop Romney in the front of the fire and tell the firefighters EXACTLY that.

You don't have to pay convicts, or give them benefits. Rick Scott has talked about this too.

we're up to about 500 firefighters here in larimer county, incident command said yesterday that crews are finally getting near the level needed to fight this beast.

these men and women have been busting their asses for two days now, some of them working 12, 16, 18 hours straight. and guess what? the local firefighters and the sheriff's office are UNION. now, i'm not a fan of our sheriff's office, but right now they have my full support when it comes to this fire. pay those men and women out there risking their lives MORE. without them we would be in a lot more trouble.

you strap on the gear and fight this fire mitt, you puke-inducing pustule.

Mitt, you are a sad waste of space and a jerk to boot. Firefighters protect families and their valuables. Furthermore, they prevent fires and deaths that occur in fires. They inspect factories to insure that people have a way out if there is a fire. These factory fires of the gilded age can kill hundreds of people.

Today, in Denver, we literally choke from the smoke. Yeah, Mitt is not directly responsible for this but don't forget that we chose to go to Iraq instead of taking care of the beetle-kill forests in CO. This is like a disease that was allowed to spread. Now these forest fires are choking us in Denver.

Mitt, your fellow travelers are sticking their heads up their rears to argue that firefighters are not producers in our economy. That logic is like saying that people should get sick because sick people increase the GDP. People want more than just to survive we want to thrive. We want to enjoy the mountains. It's about humanity, not the corporate bottom line.

Mitt, you are always wrong.

GOP, you have sabotaged our country. As George W. Bush said, you never stop trying to find ways to harm America. ONLY YOU, fellow voter can prevent this. Vote Democrat!

Once that invisible hand shows up, the fire will put itself out. Now go hold your breath while you wait. It won't be much longer...
