Fired Indiana trooper rants about preaching to pulled-over drivers: ‘I’m a soldier for Jesus Christ’

Bethania Palma Markus
09 Apr 2016 at 21:36 ET

An Indiana state trooper who was fired for proselytizing people he pulled over during traffic stops spoke out an Saturday and said he accepts his firing because he is a “soldier for Jesus Christ.”

Surrounded by praying supporters, Hamilton, who was fired on Thursday, said his responsibility as a Christian superseded those of his job, ABC6 reports.

“I always said after I got saved, I work for the state, but ultimately I’m a soldier for Jesus Christ,” Hamilton said, as supporter said “Amen” in the background. “And God has used that job for the last three years… and that was to spread the word and tell people when they’re hurting, the truth.”

He then said that while he believes the United States is a great country, “it’s on its way down.”

ONE (1) Religious NUT BALL COP vs a growing number of multiple law enforcement agencies using tax payer's money to label government vehicles with "IN GOD WE TRUST" & giving those who complain a very hard time is "trifling"...Clearly you have no understanding of the US Constitution!

..."Choosing one's battles"...WTF are you even saying? I think your just one of those DU TROLLS looking for an argument because that makes no sense! There was no "fight" to get rid of this religious NUT "two complaints in 18 months" & he was gone! ...A far cry from the the systematic agency wide practice of religion taking place in a growing number of law enforcement agencies in Georgia as well as other other states! Bring your "choose your "fights" wisely down here & tell one of these sheriffs their "IN GOD WE TRUST" logos are "passively irritating slogans" lets see how ""trivial" you think it is then? PLEASE LET ME KNOW FIRST SO I CAN VIDEO IT FOR YOUR & YOUR LAWYER'S SAKE! ...And my entertainment!

I think somewhere in the Bible Jesus says, I paraphrase, "drop what you're doing and follow me now." He didn't say "continue what you're doing but preach to people on the job."

Gigantic difference.

In most any other endeavor, this would be laughable. If the cop really loved the Rolling Stones should he lecture drivers about Keith Richards and Mick Jagger at every traffic stop?

Matthew 28: 16 - 20. King James Version

16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

----------------
This says, "Go, teach, and baptize" as far as verbs, so I'm not sure myself.

Personally, I think Christians who tell me I'm going to hell or think I practice voodoo (I am not kidding here) are annoying as hell and I refuse to stay in their presence. And then they wonder why they turn millions of people off when they act like that.

Of gaining control and converting. I'm not entirely Christian but it is clear to me that spreading the word of God is not about spreading the bible. The word of God is a simple, singular word: LOVE. In all things big and small. It is unfortunate that so many Christians get stuck on the word and lost on the faith. I am hoping that they are the minority and just happen to get a disproportionate amount of airtime.
