WikiLeaks Claims the U.S. Government Funded the ‘Panama Papers’ Against Russia (Video)
Source: Truthdig
The international whistleblowing organization WikiLeaks claims the U.S. Agency for International Development and American hedge fund billionaire George Soros funded the attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin that was part of the Panama Papers expose this week.
Earlier this week, former British Ambassador to Uzbekistan Craig Murray pointed out in a blog post:
The filtering of this Mossack Fonseca information by the corporate media follows a direct western governmental agenda. There is no mention at all of use of Mossack Fonseca by massive western corporations or western billionairesthe main customers. And the Guardian is quick to reassure that much of the leaked material will remain private.
What do you expect? The leak is being managed by the grandly but laughably named International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, which is funded and organized entirely by the USAs Center for Public Integrity. Their funders include:
Ford Foundation
Carnegie Endowment
Rockefeller Family Fund
W.K. Kellogg Foundation
Open Society Foundation (Soros)

Man, it's sad to see how far down Wikileaks has gone and has truly jumped the shark.

(18,998 posts)So far it is only the enemy of the US that have been exposed...and I suspect that is all we will hear about.
But prove me wrong.

The Israeli media has covered important Israeli connects. Not to mention, our ally who is President of Ukraine was mentioned.

(18,998 posts)And don't tell me it is because they would never do that.
And BTW Iceland committed a mortal sin...it jailed the bankers.
like I said the proof will be if this story dies before they are outed...like other stories like that seem to do.

(14 posts)I'll be excited when a Nevada law firm engaged in assembly line tax avoidance is hacked. That's where you will find thousands of guilty, tax dodging, ultra-wealthy Americans.

(59,504 posts)to accomplish the same thing. THAT is a believable reason. There are shell companies IN THE US that similarly can be used to hide money. In fact, around the same time, there was talk that legislation would require that banks have records on the PEOPLE who own these shell companies. (ie under existing law the money could be in the a "company" name that is not linked to a person. )
It might be that there are no very rich Americans that used that Panamanian law firm.

(239 posts)thought maybe all this stuff is being released by categories. Like first, country leaders and their enablers or henchmen and their political corruption. Perhaps next batch release will involve the garden variety billionaire/millionaire tax evaders---Americans included. For me it's more impactful when huge data stories are released in stages rather than all at once. Otherwise, they'd be here and gone in a week. Hopefully this way, some measure of change will result.
I don't care who's behind the leak if good comes from it.

(3,919 posts)of course it will take time. the documents were "leaked" over a year ago to major news organizations. this is what we are getting, now, just a smidgen - all of the leaks this first time do not include american companies / businesses but we know they are there. curiouser and curiouser. someone will be inspired to get to the root of it - someone with courage.

(20,219 posts)Sure, everyone would like to find something on Trump or the Clinton's, but Indian journalists are primarily looking for Indians, Chinese for Chinese and so on. The headline that they found ties to Jackie Chan is going to sell more papers in Hong Kong than some American billionaire.

(13,452 posts)This law firm was one of four large ones -- as I gather from reading.
For a rich guy, getting from the airport to the law firm would be a little easier in an English speaking country.
We seem to be at the mercy of whatever group tells us what is inside this release. It is too big for any one of us. I have my grains of salt at the ready.

(2,586 posts)It's time that the leak itself should be leaked to the public, rather than being managed by the Western media elite
I would also be interested if ANYONE has any info on what are the OTHER major companies like Mossack Fonseca out there
