A shooting at a US Air Force base in Texas has left at least two people dead, police say.

Officials have told US media that an airman shot his commander in an apparent murder-suicide.

when you make a post, you have to put something in the title box. A lot of times, when I post pictures in the body, I just type "..." in the title box. "ASDF" are the characters of the left hand in the home row of a keyboard. So, maybe the poster just went "asdf" then put the smilies in the body.

7. This sort of situation indicates a mis-use of power.

Most military personnel are so invested in the ideal of hierarchy, even someone with a hair-trigger temper will accept the occasional appearance of "disrespect" from someone up the chain.
I knew of such an incident, where the result was two bullet holes in the division officer's office door frame and a suicide in the hallway outside.
The div-o was a bullying asshole that was determined to ruin this kid's career with a dishonorable discharge for what at that time was typically a 30 day punishment and reduction in rank at the most. He thought the 20 year old kid was a useless "wussy" and didn't deserve to wear the uniform. (He's regularly use a different but similar term around co-workers...)
