Chris Wallace will interview President Obama on 'Fox News Sunday'
Source: Los Angeles Times
President Obama is booked to make his first appearance on "Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace" since 2008.
Obama has not been on the public affairs program since he first entered the Oval Office in 2009. He was still in the U.S. Senate when he last appeared.
In a statement, Fox News said the interview is to take place this week at the University of Chicago, and will cover his Supreme Court nomination, the 2016 election and Obamas presidential legacy.
The interview will air Sunday on Fox News at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. PDT, and at various times on Fox affiliate stations.

(10,857 posts)The crossroads of psychology and politics has become a very busy intersection this year. Some thoughts:
* Just appearing on Fox News forces that network to acknowledge the President's authori-tay. At the same time, doing so erodes the network's credibility among the trogs.
* The appearance is coinciding with revelations that Donald Trump has some sort of dirt on Roger Ailes, which might further erode the credibility of the network.

* The appearance might be timed to coincide with the Panama Papers revelations, possibly ones which have yet to be published.
* The appearance may be intended to highlight recent actions by the feds which are designed to punish the offshoring thieves while forcing brokers to work for the interests of average investors. (Edit: nope, they already backed away from this)
My overall guess is that the President sees an opportunity to present the Democratic Party as the party which supports the little-guy investor, rather than the sharks on top. At the same time, just appearing on Fox creates doubt in the minds of the unsway-able right-wing authoritarians, a trade Fox is more than willing to make because they work for revenue, not votes.

I'll be missing Sunday's interview. Oh well.

(10,098 posts)I always find the language in these type of articles interesting. To me, public affairs programs are informative shows that try to be as objective as can be expected in our society. Anything on that network is just propaganda and hatchet jobs.

(14,173 posts)The Oligarchy will "reward" Obama for going along with the establishment for the most part, for his two terms. No war crimes investigation, no real convictions of the Wall Street criminals, staying mum on NSA mass data citizen spying until it was exposed, expansion of off shore oil drilling, cheerleading for the TPP, and basically for going along to get along.
If this was at the beginning of his term, it would be different of course, but now that Obama has "proven himself" and facilitated the Oligarchy and the streaming of wealth to the top, while at the same time doing things like pounding home the right wing branding of a paid for by employees, SS as an "entitlement", Fox will begin to stir a little sugar in his tea. Using Chris Wallace is a good indicator as he has been the most "moderate" towards Obama of the Fox News talking heads.
So I think while there may be a couple of somewhat difficult questions, as their viewers want, my prediction is that the interview will end on a positive note. Two adversaries shaking hands after a good fight because both actually work for the same small elite group.
