Video shows San Antonio school officer body-slamming girl

Updated 4:26 pm, Wednesday, April 6, 2016

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Officials in San Antonio are investigating video that shows a school district police officer body-slamming a middle school student to the ground.

A spokeswoman for the San Antonio Independent School District says the officer has been placed on paid leave.

Leslie Price told the San Antonio Express-News that the video posted online stems from a verbal confrontation between two students in March. A uniformed officer is seen struggling with a girl, then slamming her to the ground.

The officer appears to handcuff the girl before having her stand and leading her away.

4. That child could have been hurt very badly. He literally picked her up and flung her down.

I hope the family sues the he'll out of the school, the officer, the district and anyone else who might be in a position of responsibility for the well-being of the children in their care.

When will people do to police waht they do to us? When will the police officer's War on Americans be turned around and become American's War on Police?

When is enough brutality enough?

I can't imagine what damage was done by being thrown that distance. He should be fired immediately, charged with assault, sued down to his eyeteeth, and never allowed to work with children or in a law enforcement capacity again.

Where do all these rotten cops come from? Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

...they don't get the respect they think they deserve. Every locality in the nation needs to train their cops better, and to establish strong policies mandating the use of violence only as a last resort in a life and death situation.

I'd love to see video of what was happening prior to the officer taking the girl into his grip.

I stipulate and agree that his actions ARE NOT appropriate and they are NOT okay with me for the treatment of any student, much less a 12 year old girl.

But some of these students are out of control. I live in San Antonio and reports are that this young lady is a known bully, and was violently attacking another student. I'm curious as to what other DU'ers think SHOULD BE done when one student is attacking another and will not yield to an authority telling them to do something? I mean, at some point, when a student is causing harm to another student, something has got to be done. Certainly not slamming her to the ground like this, but what? You separate them, but then what if one continues to try to fight? What if one absolutely will NOT obey the police officer and stop attacking the other?

Again, because I'll get flack for this. I am NOT in favor of what this cop did. But I wonder exactly what was happening before this video clip began.
