Obama calls on Congress to take action on jobs

Source: CBS News

President Obama urged Congress to take steps to boost the economy and said lawmakers should explain why they are not taking action if they don't.

"Right not people in this town should be focused on doing everything we can to keep our recovery going and keeping our country strong," Mr. Obama said one week after the Labor Department said the unemployment rate rose a tick in May to 8.2 percent after declining for several months.

"Right not people" was corrected to "Right now people" at 11:42AM.

But they still have this typo: "Would result in furthers layoffs."

Jesus, online editors suck, suck, suck.

It was more like a very low mumble.

A press conference isn't a stump speech, however, it should not be just a kind of private chat with a small group of Washington corporate media reporters.

I really don't understand why Pres. Obama had this press conference this morning if he wasn't going to issue a strong challenge to the Repuglicans in Congress to pass his jobs plans.

Essentially all he did was 'calmly' (to the point of somnambulance) restate what he has said before.

You know, this is not 2008. After eight years of Bush/Cheney we needed and wanted less histrionics from the White House. But after five years of a sinking economy we all need to know in no uncertain terms that the President is going to go to the mat fighting for more jobs -- we didn't even get a hint of that in this morning's event.

In other words, I don't think 'no drama Obama' is going to sell in 2012. Stylistically we need Harry Truman and, in my opinion, Barack Obama and his campaign team better adapt to this desire from the people, or he is going to have a very tough time getting reelected.

Should have chummed the tax payers instead of creating a feeding frenzy for those in the leaky boats.

I'm sure talks of 're-bait' checks to the middle class will make headlines in the fall to gain voter favor from the masses.
