Prosecutors close probe, no charges in police shooting of black N.Y. teen

The top federal prosecutor in Manhattan said Tuesday that his office would not be bringing charges against a police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black teen in 2012 in a case that has drawn attention from civil rights advocates.
Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara's statement marked the end of an investigation into the death of Ramarley Graham, 18, who was shot inside the bathroom of his Bronx apartment after being followed by police officers who said they thought he was carrying a gun.

(1,196 posts)Don't you think that is taking it a bit too far. If this was a murder, why do you suppose Obama and Lynch's Justice Dept. wouldn't file charges? What's your theory? They don't like AAs?

(4,305 posts)So we must also talk about Ramarley Graham, age 18. I don't how he was acting or talking. Even if he wasn't behaving right, I don't think that should matter. Last I knew, foul language was not a capital offense in these United States. This kid should be alive. His poor mother and father!

(4,305 posts)I saw that tape. I still shudder when I think of it! That policeman just got out and shot that kid! There was no time for the kid to understand what was going on before he got shot! Do you know how many hours the boys of my neighborhood spent every week doing exactly what that kid was doing? And then they LEFT HIM BLEEDING on the ground! Clearly a kid! And when Tamir's sister ran to help him, SHE got her hands cuffed behind her back and was put in the police car to watch him die slowly on the ground. God bless that FBI agent; at least the poor kid maybe got to feel like somebody was helping him. The other two LEOs just kind of stood around watching a kid bleed to death slowly. It was bizarre!
