I don't think they can do much with this control, as the legislative year is over (or so I believe), and also the district was redrawn in such a way that almost guarantees a Republican winning the next time, but this is GREAT news, in a night filled with little. These results were so delayed, it looks really suspicious that the Rethugs were trying their damndest to pull one out of the Diebold hat.

(8,514 posts)So as long as we hold onto our other Senate seats, we will hold control. Only about half our Senate seats are up every two years.
We'll have to wait to November to see if we still hold the rest of our Dem seats. The two seats we won in last summer's recalls are up. I know one is a likely win. Redistricting, Citizens United and Walker's John Doe Investigation will decide the rest.

(8,514 posts)When our elections become auctions for the highest bidder, will gerrymandering matter?
On the other hand, some of the GOPpie seats may go Dem. With GOPpie wins yesterday, I could easily see them jumping the shark and turning the electorate in a different direction. We also heard the special results of the exit polls - when asked if they supported Obama or Romney, Obama came out 12 points ahead.
Gerrymandering only works in average years. As we've seen, this is no average year.

(36,974 posts)The numbers show a 1% margin, is that an automatic recount in Wisconsin?

(140 posts)One of the candidates has to request one. I suspect he will.
A spread within 0.5%, tax dollars pay for the recount. Otherwise, the challenger pays.

(36,974 posts)There were SIX recall elections.
Walker and four republicans won and one democrat - that makes 'six'
