Gunmen kill at least 15 in old people's home in Yemen

Source: Reuters

Gunmen attacked an old people's home in the Yemeni port of Aden on Friday, killing at least 15 people, including four Christian nuns from India, local officials and medical sources said.

The four attackers told a guard they were on a visit to their mother, then stormed into the home and opened fire with rifles, an official said. As well as the nuns, the dead included two Yemeni women staff, eight elderly residents and a guard.

The motive of the gunmen was not immediately known. They fled after the attack, the official said.

"These terrorist acts have continued and have touched the innocent, the peaceful, the unarmed and religious figures," the state news agency Saba said, quoting a source in the Aden office of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi....

All murder is evil; but to deliberately target vulnerable old people and carers and get at them by pretending that they wanted to see their mother- this makes me just sick.

Assuming that they did this for 'religion': all religions forbid that sort of violence, and if I believed in Hell, that's where I'd say these men were going!

Yemen conflict: Pope Francis condemns 'diabolical' killing of nuns

5 March 2016 Middle East

Pope Francis has condemned the killing of 16 people, including four Catholic nuns, at an old people's home in Yemen.

He called Friday's gun attack in Aden an "act of senseless and diabolical violence".

Reports said the attackers pretended they were visiting their mothers to gain access to the home.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, though Yemeni officials have blamed so-called Islamic State.

In a statement, the Vatican said two of the nuns killed were Rwandan, one was Indian and one was from Kenya.

I believe evolution has made a huge mistake. How could a species evolve to be so destructive? We are murderous apes who are quickly ruining the only known biosphere in the universe.
