In 1927, Donald Trump’s father was arrested after a Klan riot in Queens
Source: Washington Post
When he was asked on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday whether he would condemn the praise of former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke, Donald Trump declined to disavow Duke's comments.

"I dont know anything about David Duke, okay," Trump said. "I dont know anything about what youre even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. I don't know, did he endorse me? Or what's going on. Because I know nothing about David Duke. I know nothing about white supremacists."

On Memorial Day 1927, brawls erupted in New York led by sympathizers of the Italian fascist movement and the Ku Klux Klan. In the fascist brawl, which took place in the Bronx, two Italian men were killed by anti-fascists. In Queens, 1,000 white-robed Klansmen marched through the Jamaica neighborhood, eventually spurring an all-out brawl in which seven men were arrested.
One of those arrested was Fred Trump of 175-24 Devonshire Rd. in Jamaica.

Once again Trump is caught telling a bald faced lie and his base will not care and the
media will not push him on this point.

(12,977 posts)It's the story titled "Four in Klan Riot Held for Hearing on Police Charge - Two Others Paroled, Another Freed in Jamaica Magistrate's Court." You have to click the + sign at the top a few times to make the text readable -- but it indicates that Fred Trump was the one freed, apparently because he was only charged with refusing to disperse and not with disorderly conduct.
And as a bonus item, here's a paper from 1966 with a piece complaining about Fred Trump skimming profits off the construction of Trump Village. (It came up when I searched because a separate story on the page mentions the Klan.)

Or, I could say America's tick...which I've been suffering from and scratching and have a huge swollen lump and a rash on my arm from a bite last night (thanks frontlined doggy who brought a tick to bed anyway).
Yeah, you let that tick stay on long enough and you get Lyme disease. So Trump is the Lyme carrying deer tick of America's regressive republican politicks. And we are not going to like the symptoms if he gets elected.

(35,359 posts)This is one. Those who want guilt by association will revel in it. Those who don't, won't.
Try this one.
I knew my father was in the Navy. He'd graduated and been drafted. He said he'd been put through basic and was on his way to the front in the Pacific when the war ended. At one point years later I asked how that could be--he graduated in '44 and the war ended in late '45. He said that basic training took a long time, then he was stationed State-side before being shipped out.
A couple of years before my father's death I found out more, but that was only in 2008. I was 50 at the time. He said he was required to be in formal whites an on-decks in Tokyo Harbor for the signing of the peace treaty with Japan. He worked on a minesweeper. And he had the documentation to show it.
Now, why on Earth would my father fail to mention he worked on a high-risk vessel and was present at the conclusion of WWII?
If Trump's father *was* a "card-carrying" member of the KKK in '27--that was 19 years before his son was born--would that be something he regaled his family about at cross-burnings for the next 30 years?
I guess that means my entire life I knew my father was on a minesweeper during WWII. I just failed to actually know it.
Oy.

(8,175 posts)but in this clip, John says that Trump says he doesn't know who David Duke is and doesn't know anything about white supremacy. Then he goes on to say trump earlier called David Duke a racist and a bigot.
So he lied about not knowing who he was. And then the comment on white supremacy.
Does anyone want a President of this country who does not even know what white supremacy is?
And does anyone even believe him when he says that?

(2,003 posts)The Washington Post has been writing op-eds all weekend begging establishment Republicans to figure out how to stop Trump before he sweeps up everything tomorrow. Nothing seems to work.
Now they're digging up decades old stories on his racist father's racism as some kind of last-ditch Hail Mary to try to convince angry white voters to come to their senses and choose Marco Rubio. What does this tell me? They don't have shit on this guy and they're scared.

Margaret Sanger addressed one of those meetings in NJ. Might as well dig that up while we are at it.
These KKK people met rather strong opposition from the locals. Fred Trump LIVED in Jamaica. He probably was one of the angry crowd trying to make them break off and get out.

One of those arrested was Fred Trump, of 175-24 Devonshire Road in Jamaica.
This is Donald Trump's father. Trump had a brother named Fred, but he wasn't born until more than a decade later. The Fred Trump at Devonshire Road was the Fred C. Trump who lived there with his wife, according to the 1930 census.
I don't approve of violence, but then I have never seen a giant KKK parade marching through my town, my neighborhood. If it were threatening, I might change my tune.
There were Nazis and fascists and all sorts of nasty groups around in those days.

Seems like there were multiple events between the two groups during

may well not be much there to bother with.
