Kansas men's basketball game conflicts with caucus
Source: KCTV
The Kansas Caucus is taking place on Saturday, March 5. But so is the Kansas mens basketball game. It is the team's final home game and it's scheduled for 3 p.m.
Some people are trying to fix the conflict using an old and new fashioned way - petitioning to change the time of the game online. The petition was sent out to ESPN, KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little, Director of Athletics at KU Sheahon Zenger and mens basketball head coach Bill Self.
The Kansas Caucus could help decide in the long run who the candidates for president would be. For fans of KU basketball, the game is just as important. Jonathan Hankin, who is a season ticket holder for KU mens basketball, isnt thrilled about the two conflicts.
Im thinking theres going to be 16,000 in Allen Fieldhouse who will have the same decision I have to make, said Hankin. Do I go to the game or do I go to the caucus? Therell be thousands of people at home who have to make the decision.

(7,919 posts)No one in the Party leadership with season tickets thought this date might present a problem? Of course not!
No one in Kansas thought a basketball game with this history would interfere with the political process? How dare you ask such a question!
"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoesand shipsand sealing-wax
Of cabbagesand kings
And why the sea is boiling hot
And whether pigs have wings."
I suppose in fairness the only thing to do is divide up the delegates equally among the candidates. After all you cannot stop religious events, reschedule political events, or re-time intra-state rival college basketball games in Kansas (or any other state). It simply can't be done! I'm sure the TV networks, the gamblers in Las Vegas, and the advertisers who paid to be shown during the game will all understand too.
Well they do say that democracy is a messy way to run a country. I'm guessing they hadn't heard of college sports on TV when they said it.
