Dick Van Dyke Endorses Bernie Sanders: "A Man Saying The Emperor Has No Clothes"

Source: Real Clear Politics

Could this endorsement help Bernie Sanders attract elderly voters away from Clinton?

DICK VAN DYKE: In Bernie Sanders I see a man saying that the emperor has no clothes, while everyone around him insists they see clothes. Whether or not he makes it to the White House, I hope and pray that everyone hears the alarm he is sounding now, it may be the last voice we ever hear.

'He maybe the last voice we ever hear': Veteran actor Dick Van Dyke releases video endorsing Bernie Sanders calling for voters to 'hear the alarm he's sounding'

• Mary Poppins actor has released 30 second clip endorsing Bernie Sanders

• The 90-year-old said voters should 'hear the alarm' Sanders was 'sounding'

• Comes after he said Sanders had 'caught the eye and minds of young people'

Legendary actor Dick Van Dyke has released a video endorsing Bernie Sanders insisting the veteran Democrat 'maybe the last voice we ever hear'.

The Mary Poppins star, 90, backed Sanders, 74, during a 30 second clip released on YouTube and urged voters to 'hear the alarm he's sounding'.

The clip comes days after an interview in which he said the White House hopeful had 'caught the eye and minds of young people' and that 'this time it's going to happen.'

Feb 2016
Dick van Dyke has experienced more than a half century of ribbing from fans about his famously off-radar “cockney” accent in Mary Poppins, the veteran US actor has revealed.
Speaking as he picked up a lifetime achievement award for humanitarian work at the Princess Grace Foundation Awards in Beverly Hills, Van Dyke said he would never be allowed to forget his turn as chimney sweep Bert in the 1964 Disney musical.

“People in the UK love to rib me about my accent, I will never live it down,” he said. “They ask what part of England I was meant to be from and I say it was a little shire in the north where most of the people were from Ohio.”

Van Dyke, 88, said he was completely unaware during the shoot that anything was wrong with his attempted cockney brogue. “I was working with an entire English cast and nobody said a word, not Julie [Andrews], not anybody said I needed to work on it so I thought I was alright,” he said.

When I was a kid I thought he was brilliant, also in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. One thing really upset me about that film was that at the end it was only a story. It was just a story in the first place, why couldn't the story part have remained as real (fictional) as the rest of it?

Bit of trivia, the guy who played the evil Baron Bombast also played Goldfinger.

It's not all bad, some Summers are alright, but Jubilee year in particular (2012) was a complete wash out. Last few Winters have been very mild, but quite wet, and the Summer evenings are very long. On some days it doesn't get dark until about 10pm. The reverse is true in the Winter though.

Btw, I wasn't trying to imply that you were trying to imply something or other.
