Sen. Claire McCaskill announces she has breast cancer
Source: Washington Post
Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) announced on Monday that she has breast cancer and will take a short leave of absence from the Senate to treat her condition.
The announcement, which she made on her Tumblr page, gives few details about the stage or severity of her cancer, only noting that she learned of the diagnosis during a recent, regular mammogram, and that she expects to have a full recovery.
(end snip)
A speedy, full recovery, Sen. McCaskill.

(3,825 posts)You know, the one who believed the Nazi experiments of women being able to terminate their own pregnancies if they wanted to? The doctor he was quoting had studied the experiments they had done on Jewish women. So if you stayed home or didn't vote, it was a de-facto vote for that slime. I'm from Missouri also. She's my senator and she's not going anywhere.

But I can't remove the idea that all the lies she tell on behalf of Hillary may have caught up to her.
Karma is a bitch! But I wish her personally no ill will, hope she recovers soon, and hope she has some time to reflect on some of the things she's done lately, and maybe, just maybe?? has a change of heart.
**** On EDIT: this post was alerted on. I was urged to delete the post, but I think that's the easy way out, and I take full responsibility for what I post (even though at night I'm usually a bit "tipsy" to say the least, which is when I make most of my bad decisions).
I want to reiterate I hope she gets cured ASAP. That should have been stated as a bottom line. Fuck - I'm the most liberal person I know. Seriously, I have been waiting for Bernie for many years. But when it comes to the health of any individual involved on either side of the political spectrum - I wouldn't, haven't, and never will wish for that. My problem is - like Bernie - I'm pissed and I take all this very seriously. I have two kids, 25 and 23, and my only concern in life is for their (and their potential childrens) health, and future. I always assumed that my kids would have as good or better a life than I did. I feel like a failure that it doesn't appear that will happen. THAT is the #1 reason I feel so strongly about Bernie Sanders. That's my right. I wish more would open their eyes, ears, and hearts and think about the potential futures of our kids.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Seriously, taunting a Democratic Senator with "karma is a bitch"?!
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Tue Feb 23, 2016, 10:49 AM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: More misogyny.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Supporting Hillary didn't give her cancer. Can we keep politics out of *something* for a change?
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: It's a well known saying. Chill.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I don't like this. It's too much like, "This is God's punishment for..." But it's possible, although unlikely, the poster does believe in karma.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(5,751 posts)It's like everything I said in support of her recovery was totally ignored. And I don't know if Karma is real, but it should be. Thanks, you're a good egg, eggplant!

(3,912 posts)It was a cheap shot against her, and breast cancer affects everyone, regardless of politics. If you were truly just wishing her support, you would have stopped there.
My mother had breast cancer, her mother had it, my mother-in-law had it, and I even carry the damned gene (and I'm male). It behooves us to maintain some level of decorum here. Think about it. Would you have made the same comment if she had been attacked and raped?

(5,751 posts)But I tried my best to express that I want her to recover fully. And then I hope she retires. We need more progressive people elected. Yes, I shoul have kept those two thoughts separate. I have only love for her as a human being and wish her a fast, even a miraculous recovery. But as a politician I have contempt for her because she is part of the problem.
On edit - my grandmother died of breast cancer when my Mom was 12. Never had the opportunity to know her. I don't belittle people because they get cancer. I belittle for things in their control. I just should have kept that post for another thread.

(5,751 posts)And I'm sure that's what happened. Anyway, unless there is such a thing as double jeopardy in DU, it's already been adjudicated.

(3,825 posts)I do, and I have almost all my life. She's my Senator, she a woman whom I personally admire, and I have had friends and family who have had breast cancer and some have survived and some have not. Cancer doesn't have a political preference. Your contempt is disgustingly evident by your lack of personal ethics. You should have the good manners, at least I hope your parent's taught you that, to remove this piece of trash. And, to even have the "Bernie" icon on this makes it even more character defining. You have none. If I new that Mr. Sander's had cancer, I wouldn't bring my politics into my good wishes for his recovery. See the difference? There is such a thing as class, and you are obviously lacking.

To date, the most petty I've witnessed is cowering behind the implication one gets cancer from supporting a candidate.

Diagnosed in Nov 2014, with a single breast mastectomy and breast reconstruction by 31 Dec 2014! They got it all; no follow-up treatment required. Thank heavens!
No prior symptoms whatsoever; found on routine mammogram. I was still in denial by the time it was over. I wish that it could be the same for all. I've lost too many family members and friends to breast and other forms of cancer.
I wish Senator McCaskill all the best and a very speedy recovery!
