Nairobi freaks out as lions escape from national park

Source: Washington Post

Nairobi is a rare city in which a park full of the world's most vicious predators abuts a sprawling metropolis that's home to millions of humans.

Usually it's a peaceful coexistence. On Friday, it got a little scary.

Four lions escaped from Nairobi National Park and headed toward a heavily populated part of one of Africa's largest cities. Kenyan wildlife officials tried — in some cases unsuccessfully — to keep people calm.

"Avoid provoking the lions by confronting them," tweeted Kenya Wildlife Services spokesman Paul Udoto.

Maybe they'll devour a Birther or two.

...because I'm sure it won't be good for the lions. Pity.

...and thank you so very much for your reply. I love animals, and cats of all sizes are my particular favorites. Cecil broke my heart.

“Lioness and cub safely back into the park,” said Paul Udoto, a spokesman for the wildlife service. “Two others suspected to have sneaked back before dawn.”
