U.S. Strikes ISIS Camp in Libya, Killing More Than 30

Source: New York Times

WASHINGTON — American warplanes struck an Islamic State camp in Libya early Friday, targeting a senior Tunisian operative linked to two major terrorist attacks in Tunisia last year, according to a Western official.

The airstrike, on a camp near Sabratha west of Tripoli, also killed more than 30 Islamic State recruits at the site, many of whom were believed to be from Tunisia, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss military operations.

Intelligence officials were trying to determine whether the operative, Noureddine Chouchane, was killed in the strike, the official said.

The official said that Mr. Chouchane was a major facilitator for the Islamic State and had been linked to two major attacks in Tunisia last year: one in March that killed 22 people in an attack on the National Bardo Museum in Tunis and one in June that killed 38 people at a beach in the coastal resort in Sousse, south of the capital.

I was listening to piano
musac and this is what my computer
tells me when I wake it up.

I wonder where Swartzenagger (Rambo) is?

Reminds me of the Viet Nam daily headlines
when I served in '68. We must have killed a million.

We just kept killing them and they were like
the Gentiles or heathens or something
in the bible .... they just kept coming back.
Don't tell anybody ... we lost that WAR in
Viet Nam. And we keep getting more atheists.

They were evil. They did not have a life.
No family, no children, no babies. They are
evil. When we get tired of killing them we just quit.
They had no virgins. Just whores.

We forgot them and they forgot us, they won.
They are still there ... them heathens (ISSERS?).

They will forget us because we will forget
them. No harm ... no foul.

Yawn ... wonder how Golden State did last night?
I'll click on NBA scores ...

is playing a part in our continued military aggression in Libya.

We can't have someone charismatic rise up to unite the people against the US and NATO, so we just tell people "ISIS/al-Qa'ida/Boko Haram is there" (take your pick for the terrorist group of the day) and start bombing people we can't control.

US Airstrike in Libya 'Likely Killed' Planner of Tunisian Terror Attacks

The United States conducted airstrikes overnight on an ISIS training camp in western Libya that targeted a Tunisian believed to have planned two deadly terror attacks on tourists in Tunisia last year, officials said.

While the assessment is ongoing, one defense official said Noureddine Chouchanne was “likely killed” in the U.S. airstrikes that also killed dozens of foreign fighters at an ISIS training camp for foreign fighters.

Chouchanne, a Tunisian, was believed to be behind last year's terror attacks on western tourists at a beach resort in Tunisia that killed 38 people and a museum in Tunis that killed 22 people, a U.S. official said.

"Early this morning the U.S. military conducted an airstrike in Libya targeting an ISIL training camp near Sabratha and Noureddine Chouchane, a.k.a. "Sabir," a Tunisian national who was an ISIL [or ISIS] senior facilitator in Libya associated with the training camp," Peter Cook, the Pentagon press secretary, said in a statement issued today.

Libya air strike: Two Serbs feared dead in US attack on IS

20 February 2016 Africa

Two Serbian nationals held hostage in Libya since November are believed to have been among those killed in Friday's air strikes by US warplanes, the Serbian government says.

The jets targeted positions of the self-styled Islamic State group (IS) in the city of Sabratha.

The kidnapped Serbs, Sladjana Stankovic and Jovica Stepic, worked at the Serbian embassy in Libya.

Serbia is waiting for identification of the bodies, the foreign minister said.

Libyan authorities had yet to confirm the deaths, Ivica Dacic told a news conference in Belgrade, adding that "it was most probably true". The news had come from foreign nationals.

Prime minister Aleksandar Vucic said there was no doubt that Sladjana Stankovic, a communications officer, and Jovica Stepic, a driver, were killed in the American bombing. They were taken hostage in November after their diplomatic convoy, including the ambassador, came under fire near the coastal Libyan city of Sabratha.

“Apparently, the Americans were not aware that foreign citizens were being kept there,” Vucic told reporters.

Speaking at a news conference in Belgrade earlier, foreign minister Ivica Dacic said information about the deaths was given to Serbia by foreign officials but had not been confirmed by the Libyan government. “We got the information, including photos, which clearly show that this is most probably true,” Dacic said...

... Dacic said Serbia had known where the hostages were and had been working to get them back, adding that Libyan troops were considering an operation to free them.

“I believe we had been close to the solution for them to be freed. Unfortunately, as a consequence of the attack against Isis in Libya, the two of them lost their lives,” Dacic said...
