2 Killed in Crashes Involving 16 Cars in California

Source: ABC

Authorities say two men died over the weekend in a car crash that set off a series of collisions involving 16 cars in a foggy Central California highway.

California Highway Patrol Officer Moises Onsurez says two passengers were killed and the driver had major injuries after their pickup collided into the back of a milk truck before being hit by two other cars on Highway 59 on Saturday.

A second crash was reported in the same area as officers were responding to the first call. A short time later, a third and fourth collision were reported.

"After the fatal crash, a vehicle collided into stopped vehicles and the same thing happened in two other collisions," he said.

bad new, and people should not drive in those conditions. Too many drive too fast when they cannot see a few feet ahead

I was just ready to pull over, when, boom, fog lifted as suddenly as it had descended.

Very scary, indeed.

Definition of "Tule Fog." I live in Fresno. Know EXACTLY what you're talking about. I refuse to drive in it. Too many people who won't slow down in it, including truck drivers. If it gets too bad I pull over and wait it out.

and it was amazing that just that little bit of height allowed us to see over the top of the fog, seeing just the roofs of the cars driving on a roadway that was not visible and blue sky above.
