Vulnerable GOP senator tweets wrong pic of Scalia
One of the most vulnerable Republican senators up for reelection accidentally tweeted a picture of a veteran stage actor while memorializing late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on Saturday.
Justice #Scalia's death: a profound loss for America, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) tweeted hours after news of the justices death in Texas.
But instead of a picture of the longtime jurist, Johnson accidentally included a photo of veteran actor Edward Gero, who played Scalia in a play about his court opinions last year, called The Originalist.

A pretty bad mistake to make when your senator of one of two states between the state of Alaska and California to get confused about which one she was governor of!
Was quite amusing to me when I had just moved up to Oregon from California after that election.
Real thankful that he lost too! Jeff Merkley is a great senator. Always love getting a chance to talk to him on occasion around here.

Good luck, Ron!

(40,416 posts)The numbers just work out in Dems' favor this year. The GOP have too damned many senators running in blue states, like Johnson. Dems have maybe one in a red state, and I think it's Tester in Montana. (???)
The bottom line... Nobody thinks that the US Senate won't be in Democratic hands in 2017. Nobody!
How many of these GOP assholes are going to support overt obstruction of a SCOTUS nominee and risk losing their seat? (Probably lose it anyway)
Go ahead, assholes. Make my day. Either way, you lose.

Sure one of the nutjobs the Republicans are running can do alot of damage but that damage is mitigated by term limits where as a conservative SCOTUS judge can do a hell of alot more damage in the long run imo.

Republican Senator has no idea who Justice Scalia is, tweets picture of a Scalia impersonator
Wisconsin's Ron Johnson may want to double check before he hashtags Scalia's death

. . .
The picture Johnson tweeted was of Edward Gero, an actor who portrayed Scalia in The Originalist, a play centered around the Supreme Court Justice.
If its any comfort to Johnson, his tweet confirms he is a man of the people as only 16 percent of Americans were able to name Justice Scalia when asked to identify a Supreme Court Justice.
