A man opened fire inside a crowded shopping center restaurant during lunchtime Wednesday and wounded a sheriff's deputy, then exchanged gunfire with another deputy outside, authorities said.

The second deputy was also wounded and the suspect was killed in the shootout, Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said.

The first shooting took place inside a Panera restaurant in Abingdon in northeastern Maryland after a deputy responded to a call at 11:46am Wednesday about someone causing a problem inside, the sheriff said. The responding deputy was wounded, and the shooter left.

at least for me, if that's ok, and wish them all peace.

Senseless tragedy.

The problem was he had a gun, not surprisingly, and he took the lives of 2 officers.

Thank god he didn't shoot any of the patrons in the Panera store.

I'm sure that based on your comment, others will be along to say it's a mental health problem, and leave the gun out of it.

On edit: I read entire article and see where one of the officers died.

I wonder if his skin color gave him the benefit of the doubt, and before the cops knew it, he was shooting them dead.

Did they first ask him to drop his weapon, or were they ready to fire their weapons?

Suspect was simply sitting in the booth and when the deputy sat down to talk to him, the suspect drew the gun and shot him point blank in the head.

This is how the vast majority of police officers handle situations. Black or white cop. Black or white perp. 99% of the time it ends without incident. Here, it did not because of another criminal with easy access to a gun.

Should be interesting to hear the cause of these needless slaughter. Incorrect change? Wanting to collect on the 27 virgin deal? Etc, etc. just a waste of precious life, no matter.

The police were there to arrest him, and he was not going to have any of that.

Why should he, when he had his trusty little Penis envy weapon at disposal. I'm sure he would be proud to know that he managed to kill both cops before he went.

We can only guess why the well-regulated militia conducted this mission.
