Chris Christie Ends 2016 Presidential Bid

Source: NBC News

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will end his presidential bid after a disappointing sixth place finish in the New Hampshire Republican primary, NBC News first confirmed with Christie's inner circle Wednesday.

Christie and his wife Mary Pat returned home from New Hampshire earlier in the day and spent time reaching out to friends and supporters.

Late Tuesday night, Christie had told supporters he planned to "take a deep breath" and return to New Jersey to determine his next steps.

"We leave New Hampshire tonight without an ounce of regret," he said.

Somebody probably did the math for him, but he's at least smart enough to know that it benefits him to stop spending since he gets to keep what's left after his campaign obligations are paid.

Edited to add: This is why most candidates raise as much cash as possible right before they bow out of the race.

Which is more than New Hampshire can say.

Maybe he's got a shot as being the GOP nominee's next Karl Rove. And his timing couldn't be better...

They will sing like canaries. It is going to get uglier and uglier for Christie. And he deserves every miserable minute of it.
